Langford was a small dude, I think Boxing at the time when Golota was relevant evolved so much that I think Golota would stop him h2h. A DQ win for Langford wouldn't be out of the question though.

I don’t see much of an evolution in skill when I look at Langford-Jeannette and Bowe-Golota side by side, though the evolution in skill for heavys of Golota’s size is definitely there.

This is just a question of boxing evolution, nothing else.

If you think boxing hasn't meaningfully improved, then Golota does not have a meaningful chance.

Golota will probably stop him in the late rounds 10-11

Reminder that Langford knocked out all the superheavys he encountered except Fred Fulton. Langford got George Godfrey he got Bill Tate and he got Andre Anderson. He got Harry Wills.

People convinced themselves Langford is a superhero.

Hagler has more of a chance than Langford but present that matchup and people are less likely to pick Hagler.
Hagler brings people back to reality whereas theres a mythacism about Langford that tends to blind reality perception.

Even if it has he probably still finds a way to lose.

Langford seemed to perform worse against the tallest opposition he faced. He lost to Fulton emphatically. Wills won most of the rounds of their bouts. Tate beat him twice and wasn't in the top bracket.

Langford might have had long arms but reaching up that many inches is difficult for a boxer. We're talking 10 inches in height, 5 inches in reach against Golota.

The only similar challenge in recent history was when Qawi boxed Holyfield and Foreman.

The most similar HW size disparity fight in the last few decades is Foreman Qawi

Qawi gets tired quickly trying to land. But on the other hand, if Langford's power translates to the modern HW division could he do to Golota what Brewster did? It's hard to say, the recent LHWs who came to HW are Jones Jr and Toney. Jones Jr had brutal KOs at 160-175 but he only really got Ruiz's respect. Toney was roided and his power didn't really translate to what it was at 160. Then we have Spinks and Patterson. It's essentially hard to guage how Langford performs against a modern SHW

If Golota didn’t have an in-built self-destruct button I’d pick him but if Langford could find a way into the fight and stick around, Golota would fold. Langford by DQ or TKO.

Langford defeated every tall opponent he faced except Fulton. He had a losing record against Wills but one can tie that to age. You could tie the Tate losses to age as well.

Tate was a "colored" champ during the era that meant by far the most and was likely better then Godfreys whole generation of black HWs. Reminder that every black fighters WL record was nerfed because the top guys fought each other over and over and they started doing it from day one. He was in the top bracket thats why he kept fighting them over and over.

Bill Tates welcome to the pro ranks was getting nuked by prime Joe Jeanette when he was 18 years old. He fought elite black HWs 35 times in 64 fights. Tates 31-30-3 looks awful until you realize he started 2-10-1 and then had to claw back to .500.
