How do you see this going, one for MW and one at LHW and it's 20 rounds... for a real mans fight. Opinions, reasons, predictions and how the styles match up.

I am picking Langford at either weight, I think at MW he may be very fast and still have a lot of power.... I think Sam stops Harry inside 17 rounds. It could be a lot shorter but greb should last that long.

    Your turn.

I said Langford beats Greb and Joe Jeanette would have too if all met in their primes

Was it Fleischer who said Langford wouldn't have touched Greb?

Yes Jp. In an old question box article in a Ring Mag a reader asked Nat Fleischer this question. "Nat in what round do you think it would take for Sam Langford to catchup to and K'O Harry Greb "?. Fleischer responded : " I don't think that Langford could ever catch up to Harry Greb and K'O him ". And remember Fleischer always called Sam Langford our greatest uncrowned champion...

Honestly very difficult to rate greb. He called the best pvp boxer with 200+ win record but with nothing documentation. I'm never see he fight. Because that i'm picking langford. Unless i see greb dpcumentation fight.

I can see nothing but a series of fights with wins on both sides. Not sure if this is because Langford wears the cuffs to protect his cash cow or not.

My prediction is 2-2 with several greb supporters today claiming a comperhensive Greb thrashing the same way Greb thrashed Mike Gibbons. I could also see a Gene Tunney style Greb win based on interpretations of newspaper reports 100 years later rather than the actual results of match.

But in all honesty, i think this could go either way. and would go both ways. I wouldnt completely discount Langford catching up with Greb, in fact i think it might be a fair chance of happening in some of their fights.

I do feel confident in saying this may be one of the best fights ever. If i had to to make and ATG dream pay per view, i think this fight might be on it.

Langford by KO or Greb by decision. Can't decide which.

I am not really saying Langford wouldn't. I was just pointing out that we have a contemporary of both who thinks Langford would get outboxed.

Thanks Burt. That's high praise from a boxing legend and speaks volumes of just how good Greb truly was. Funny enough, Greb seems like he was awfully hard to hit, yet his name is rarely mentioned among the greatest defenders.

His main defense was an offense that smothered his opponents with barrages and volleys of punches from every angle...Tough
for an opponent to mount an offense when blows are reigning on your face 3 minutes of a round. Plus his legs were described as rubber as he was bouncing in and out, to and froe, and as Gene Tunney described Greb as " impossible to time as he was never in the same place for a second or so ". Remember in Greb's last 280 or so fights against anyone and everyone Greb was never stopped. You can't stop what you can't hit...
I don't like to match a Langford and a Harry Greb in a fantasy fight as Greb at 160 lbs was much lighter than Langford was at about 170-5 lbs...Both Langford and Greb were immortals for darn sure...

    My guess ....
In a 20 round fight, Sam Langford at his absolute best would KO the best version of Harry Greb.
    Probably within 15 rounds too.

This is an important point... we just MUST get to see Greb or we are all guessing. I am used to searching old articles and reports of boxing and to say the least they are so contradictory.
