Hey I thought of this matchup at work today. I realize Juan Laporte was a featherweigth and Pintor was a bantam and super bantamweight but I think this is still a compelling match up.

Although he was stopped in the 14th I think Pintor did better against a prime Gomez than Laporte did against a past prime Gomez. Moreover he was a HUGE bantam and still a very big junior feather. He was strong as an ox, hit hard, could fight all night, and had a great chin.

Still Laporte is no slouch evidenced by his wins over Lockridge and Miranda and the tough fights he gave Chavez, Sanchez, Pedroza, and others. He hit very hard and had underrated skills. Still he had a Herol Graham like tendancy to blow it at the important moments. he lost an easy fight to Gerald Haye no better than a journeyman and he had McGuingan stunned but didn't follow up.

I don't know who would win. 60-40 Laporte imo I guess. But it would be fun. Pintor would guarantee that.
