This same statement was made about the Trout/Canelo fight, that Trout HAD to get out of his comfort zone which isn't his style...blah...blah....blah.
lara doesn't have the feet to beat floyd.... floyd's too quick.... southpaw stance could cause problems.... but only when used effectively.... lara's a counter puncher.... when you have to two counter-punchers fighting.... the quicker of the two will always prevail..... easy work for floyd..... i think canelo whoops lara to be honest.
The idea that Floyd is 'so good you can't get any better' is simple hyperbole. Floyd is better than the next best - so someone could be better than than Floyd, unless you actually believe he is superhuman in some way? Is Lara that guy? Skills, intangibles or otherwise, I ain't sure, but I do think (and thought way before last night) that Lara would be one of the stiffest tests of Floyds career. I would put him alongside any of FMJs defining fights in terms of ability.
Lara beats Floyd, but loses the decision This is the only active guy from 140-154 that can beat floyd
Lara and GGG are the two big tests out there for Floyd, he has a great chance size but with real skills, Lara is the best 154 fighter in the world IMO
I felt bad for Trout, he HAD to make the fight, but he was thoroughly outboxed. Lara is very good with good speed and nice reach, but I have a hard time believing someone who fights at his pace can beat Mayweather. Floyd is still the faster fighter and the better technician. It would be interesting though.
Always...BUT anybody who has seen Lara's fights with Angulo and Martirosyan know that Erislandy has holes in his game, it's just that Trout isn't the type of fighter to expose them.
Excellent post. Why do people think a guy who struggled with Angulo and Hernandez, couldn't beat Vanes and clearly lost to Carlos Molina would have a chance against Mayweather, based on what was more of a poor performance from Trout than a sensational one by Lara?
The only real challenges left for Floyd right now are: 1. Garcia at 140 2. Pacquiao at 147 3. Lara at 154 The toughest of the 3, in lieu of last nights performance, I personally would say is Lara at 154.
Floyd wont fight lara too risky he will pick the easy way he always does. Same as roy jones(whos my fav fighter)
This is not a PPV fight. No way in HELL does Lara's ass deserve the pay day. He needs to rematch Angulo. That's a fight I want to see.
