Lara was willing to face GGG, I'm pretty sure he'd be eager to face Canelo at 160 without thinking about it. Brave on Lara's part. Canelo barely getting to his prime. Lara might be more technically sound, but Canelo is faster and stronger now. If Canelo doesn't gas out won't surprise me if he stopped Lara too. Angulo took many shots that would of floored Lara easily. If half of the shots that landed on Angulo landed on Lara, Lara is in big trouble. All Lara has is the big straight left upstairs, take that away, he's more beatable than Canelo is.
Lara a G. This guy is brilliant and only wants tough fights. Canelo looked extremely powerful yesterday, can't call this fight. Id love both of them to move up to 160, Canelo is growing out of 154 fast.
Of course I can. If you are the champion, you need to fight the best available, no excuses and no running away. He got a pass for fighting Cotto because of the layoff which is perfectly normal, but that doesn't mean that he can continue fighting lesser opponents regardless of what money is in the game. He has to fight the biggest challenger, and his obligation for that is even bigger now when that challenger is widely considered to be the best middleweight in the world, even better than the champion himself. I have been a fan of Sergio throughout his reign, and if he isn't retiring, then he has to give a shot to no one else than Golovkin. I wouldn't like to see some lesser guy winning the belt and then staying away from every tough challenge while trying to market himself, while even being scared to fight the toughest guys at 154. You can bet he would do anything necessary to avoid fighting Golovkin. Sergio himself said that Golovkin is next, and if he breaks his word and doesn't give him a shot, then his championship is nothing more than a piece of paper.
"I just wanted to show the fans, show the public, show everybody that Canelo is afraid of me," stated interim WBA jr. middleweight champion Erislandy Lara: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StTmacl8EZc&feature=g-subs-u
Kinda felt bad for Lara he had the right idea but did not commit to it and pay the price for it. It was cringeworthy!
Canelo has been ducking this fight for years. you do know that nothing is going to change now? it should happen but it won't.
