Nice post although I think Collazo was by no means great, he was very good imo, but he certainly had bad luck and I don't think he would have survived Berto. A lot of people slated this fight rather than pop on boxrec and see Hernandez had beaten Collazo.

Lets say K-9 somehow beats Alvarez if they do fight. Do you really think Mayweather or Cotto would fight him? Do you understand where I'm coming from? Its almost like everyone should take the hardest route except Canelo. Its all a joke!!! I understand them making him into a big star because of his fan base, but its horrible the way they are doing it. Lets see how good the guy really is.

The funny thing is Collazo gave Berto a very good fight, but got battered by Hernandez. Hernandez put Collazo down but Berto couldn't. Yet Berto stops Hernandez in 1 round with a wicked punch. Its boxing folks. That's what makes this sport so intriguing. People don't consider a fighters mind-state, training camp, weight, or anything like that. They just figure, well if he beat him, then he should too. That's not how the fight game works.

You're not telling the full story, Collazo had taken 2 yrs off, he came back and fought some bum earlier but he clearly was not the same guy that ran Hatton Hard, had early success with Mosley or gave Berto a tough fight. IMO Berto would dominate and stop Collazo in 2012.

    exactly.
PW was always regarded of having a solid chin until got cracked by Sergio with a perfect shot.
Your point is very solid, nobody take into consideration that every fight is a different fight.Ortiz showed a lot of heart against Berto but he folded with Maidana.Mind-state and training camp have a lot to do with it.

There is no urgency in rushing a 21 year old kid. (Business)
IF Alvarez was say Lara's age I'd understand.

The fact that everyone expects so much from Canelo speaks for itself.

If he wasn't holding a title I would agree BUT once a fighter picks up a world title the coddling should end IMO.

So fighters don't remain the same, just as Hernandez is not a guy to continuously get sparked in one round. I agree Berto would beat this version of Collazo. With or without PEDs. :yepAs far as people's high expectation for Canelo, he is a world champion who was pretty much given the title. He hasn't worked for it. If he is so great or expected to be so great why not see if he can either come back from a loss or continue to be unbeaten. We can always use marketability and business as an excuse, but I personally would rather not.:good

Funny everyone only calls out one title holder... yet isn't there about 4? :!:

They want the money, not the title...

all roads lead to Saul Dinero Alvarez.

Right, and the Money man should fight the best. Lets take a moment and look a Suals resume.

    Shane Mosley
    Kermit the frog Cintron
    Alfonso Gomez:rofl
    Ryan Rhodes :rofl:rofl:rofl
    Mathew Hatton :huh....

    MUST I CONTINUE???

IS CANELO GOOD? YES...DOES CANLEO NEED TO FACE THE TOP CONTENDERS IN THE DIVISION?? IE Erislandy Lara, Carlos Molina etc etc etc in this hot hot division? YES

People like to claim lara brings nothing to the table and needs better opposition, but, what has Canelo done or who has he beaten to be leagues ahead of lara in terms of experience?? Lara would embarrase everyone on Canelo's resume just like Canelo did, those are by no means great fighter.
