Anybody can look impressive in the gym. Few can take it to fight night.

Good to share. I wondered what happened in sparring after Roger brought Lara to the gym in 24/7.

But as someone else pointed out.

Lara is a light middle and has fought at middleweight too.

So don't take to much stock in the "almost knocked out hatton".
If Collazo near stopped Hatton in the last round at 147lbs and Mayweather did at 147lbs would be easy for a 154lb-er to hurt him at around 140lbs.

What kind of pricks would pick Lara to prepare for Pac? He's absolutely nothing like him. Hatton's camp on 24/7 looked like a joke and god knows what stories are yet to come out! :rofl

  6. Apart from 4 inches in height and 20lbs in weight...... but yeah not much diffrence

  11. Either way it was a bit stupid to employ a MW to spar with a LWW on Mayweathers part

well im not surprised that hattons style - which is quite basic and relies on mauling - would nt be very efective in sparring- which essentially favours boxers and punchers - much like the amateur game. Sparring with mitts, headgear and so on- takes away some things from some fighters- but when u take them off- they become magic in the ring. hatton got hit alot. as a pro - and in sparring and in his bouts.

its no surprise he copped a lot of damage in sparring . he wasnt a great boxer all the time- he was a great fighter come fight time- who relied also on the crowds energy- and his own fanatic reserves of stamina to overwhelm and outhustle his opponent. itd be hard to channel that every day in sparring. i mean look at him between fights. he s a bit like a babe ruth or john daly type, iverso. they appear out of shape and maybe even vulnerable or lazy in practise- but come game time- they turn the lights on.

we shouldnt take too much away from ricky. he was great for a while . for a while the best light welterweight in the world. - and still perhaps top 10 . how many sports- can u be top ten in your game- and be still called a bum? only boxing.

Ok, well that still doesn't matter.

Lara, light middle(154lbs) Hatton, Jr. welterwight(140lbs)

Hatton may of been a few pounds north of 140lbs a week or two from the Pacquiao fight.
But Lara would of been north of 154lbs by alot more due to his fight with Vazquez nearly a month away at the time.
