On the scene, Lara says he will step up to 160 and fight Pirog if Martinez won't fight him. In Russia too!

What does Pirog have to gain from this fight?

He certainly won't get respect for beating a JMW that hasn't accomplished anything.

He wont be getting good money either....

Exactly.... has done absolutely nothing besides get a gift decision against Molina, and win an Event with Williams... that last event win got to his head... and he thinks he is the best in the division when he has so many flaws... I wish fighters had something to gain from fighting him so we can see him get shutup... he needs to work his way back up... as he stans 0-1-1 with no fan backing, just living off an Event win.

I'll give Lara credit, he is willing to step up and challege himself. If Pirog can't get Martinez I hope he selects Lara.

I like Lara's desire to fight the best, but he needs to be carefull and not let his fustrations ( of being avoided ) cause him to make bad decisions. Going up to 160 to take on Pirog is no walk in the park.

Bad style for Lara I think. Pirog is a big one, too. But I thought Williams would be bad and that went pretty well.

lol So being made to "fight" by Carlos Molina who has fought most his career at 147lbs and getting beat up is the same approach you think Lara should use against Pirog who is a full sized MW, with a solid MW power, and 10x more awkward and skilled than Molina? Brilliant strategy.

Lara wouldn't be a bad fight for Pirog. He's been on HBO & ESPN multiple times and has some hype from the Williams fight, and I'd expect Lara to put up a good effort Pirog, despite getting killed. Team Pirog said they'll come to the US and fight Lara if they can't get a bigger name, which means we can expect Pirog-Lara in February.

Lara would get knocked out. Pirog would get no money and credit.
