Cuban junior middleweight Erislandy Lara has a small facial fracture that will sideline him six to eight weeks according to a reliable source. Lara, who suffered the injury in a clash of heads with Paul Williams, was taken after the fight to a hospital to be checked and it appears that the fracture is not serious but Lara need rest and recovery time. He returned from Atlantic City to Miami by car on doctor’s orders. Many media have begun to project that Lara can be a strong opponent for the WBC super welterweight world champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Other options are WBO Sergei Dzinziruk or a possible rematch with Williams, who won a controversial majority decision Saturday night.

Lara draws with Molina when most thought he lost.... then has a very close fight with Paul Williams and now all of you are certain he'd just "school" Canelo?

    Come on.

There was nothing close about the Williams fight. Nothing.

I, for one, didn't think his fight with Williams was that close. Even if you give him the benefit of the doubt, you can't actually score the fight for him.

Lara-Canelo would be an interesting fight and it would show that GBP have a lot of confidence in Alvarez. I would have Lara as the favourite.

Either that or re-matches with Molina or Williams would be ok with me

Molina seems to be pretty good and Lara beat Paul at least 8-4. I don't think Lara would school Canelo but Lara is significantly better than anyone Canelo has ever fought. I think Lara wins a UD about 8-4 7-5.

I hope Lara recovers well. His awkrwardness, speed, and power I think are alittle better than Canelos, but if Canelo keeps the sparring and training with Golovkin up, he can.beat Lara. Canelo looked great vs Rhodes. A draw wouldnt be outta the question, but right now Lara is too much for Canelo. In a year or so Canelo will be ready. Rematches with Molina and Pwilly would be good for Lara to build up his name and buildup for a collision course between the 2.
