According to Lara's twitter ,both guys will take tune ups with Lara fighting Yuri Foreman in the 13 of january and Andrade against John Jackson sometime in 2017
And if Andrade was to win, I think that would put him as number 1 in the division, assuming Canelo keeps his word (which I believe he will) and finally moves upto the 160 weight limit.
Great fight. To call Yuri Foreman a 'tune-up', though, is a hell of an understatement. Was astonished to find out the guy was still going. Had thought he retired after the Cotto debacle.
Andrade will not need a robbery to beat Lara. Canelo will have to fight him for the right to be called #1 even if he remains in hiding from the other MWs.
Canelo will run outta the division before he has to fight Boo boo who is the future #1. Its a real shame his career has been stagnating.
I'd put the winner of this(especially if It's decisive) at #1 at 154 as well, regardless of Canelo's next move.
Pointless tune ups... just get right to it. But that would go against the PBC style of matchmaking I guess.
^^Well to be fair, neither man has been very active as of late (especially Demetrius whose barely fought the last couple of years.) With a couple of the champions at JMW being trained by Ronnie Shields, a win for Andrade could shake things up at 154 lbs and entice the Charlo's to eventually step in with him (although Jermell isn't being trained anymore by Ronnie.) Andrade winning would open a potential pathway for someone to be able to unify the division. Terrific fight, and I'd favor Lara in that matchup if it goes down. I think his experience might be a little too much for Demetrius.
It's about ****ing time. They could have made this fight two years ago instead of taking vacations and fighting nobodies. But by all means, don't rush yourselves darlings. Take all the tune ups you want.
Entice the Charlo's? You do remember that he dropped out of a fight with Jermell Charlo in November 2014 three weeks from the fight claiming he wasn't being paid enough? It ain't the Charlo's who need enticing. http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/...ndrade-drops-scheduled-defense-jermell-charlo
That was over 2 years ago and things have changed a good amount. Charlo made mention of that fight falling out in his post fight interviews- that Andrade has come out of the woodworks now that Jermall has become arguably the top guy in the division. I think Demetrius feels a sense of urgency now in his career since he's been inactive for so long. I think he'd take a much smaller purse if he can get one of the champions at 154 lbs. I personally don't know if he deserves a fight with him at this point since Andrade hasn't done much in the past few years, but if he keeps hijacking interviews and incessantly calls out all the top guys at 154 lbs, one of them might take the bait.
