Mayweather has an enormous reach for a WW (72''). Looking at Mayweather's opponents from 2007 onwards:

    Pacquiao: 67''
    Maidana: 69''
    Canelo: 70''
    Guerrero: 70''
    Cotto: 67''
    Ortiz: 70''
    Mosley: 71''
    JMM: 67''
    Hatton: 65''
    ODLH: 73''
    Baldomir: 68''
    Judah: 72''

Mayweather didn't have any reach advantage against ODLH and Judah, one was a very close Split Decision and the other one he got knocked down. Obviously this is something that effects his game, and Lara has a gigantic 74'' reach.

Being a highly technical fighter in his prime, Lara would cause Mayweather a lot of problems once Floyd's reach advantage is neutralized.

    Thoughts?

Yes but he is also very 1 dimensional. Relies very heavily on the straight left.

Mayweather clearly beat Hoya, most had him winning about 8 or 9 rounds. Judah won 2-3 rounds. And his "knockdown" was a case of him catching Floyd off balance. And it was a counter right hook that had little to do with his reach. Maidana gave him more problems then those two.

Mayweather is undefeated, and has had only one debatable decision. I'm not sure how you could say any style is all wrong for him. And Lara is straight puncher, that relies heavily on that straight left. Mayweather defends straight punches very well, and is adept at taking away a guy's best weapon.

why do you say that? lara would just let floyd walk him down just like judah did in the later rounds in their fight. the only fighters who give floyd problems are the ones that have a high punch output and smother him and don't give him time to think about his next move. guys like lara don't have a high enough punch output to look dominant enough for a decision. this is floyd's easiest fight

    Floyd ain't walkin down SHlT.

Floyd would run, but so would Lara. TERRIBLE fight.

They would give the fight to Floyd even if Lara landed more punches. The punch stats would be skewed and made to look like Floyd dominated, when he clearly didn't.

Why would ANYONE want this fight?

The only way to beat Floyd on the cards is to knock him out. Only GGG would be able to knock him out.

Mayweather fan here, but you can make an argument that ODLH won the first 6 rounds.

You can also make an argument that the moon landings were faked. You can argue anything you want. Oscar did not win the first 6 rounds. It' doesn't matter who you're a fan of, scoring the first 6 rounds for Hoya is a bad scorecard.

I can score fights better then everybody on here. I'll tell you why De La Hoya won the first 6 rounds, or at least 5 of the first 6.

Mayweather didn't do **** but lean on the ropes and De La Hoya was throwing punches. Anybody who knows boxing knows you score those rounds for De La Hoya, even Mayweather's father told him "your losing" in I think round 6 or 7.

Don't know realistically how somebody can score those first 6 for Mayweather.
