GB fighters won't be allowed on HBO until Stephen Espinoza is no longer head of Showtime Boxing (which if Mayweather's next ppv fails to break even and Alvarez & Broner both lose their next fights could be all it takes). At 154-157, this could be an interesting fight, but as already pointed out, Angulo was getting to Lara with his caveman style pressure and if not for that thumb/punch to Angulo's eye, Lara was done for. Imagine what a more precise operator with more power would do.
Lara knows full well that that fight can't happen, he is just using GGGs name to gain some publicity... :-(
What makes you think he knows GGG is booked for 2-3 fights? Boxers aren't keeping tabs on other boxers 24-7 like you GGG nuthuggers. Maybe he meant he'd like the fight after he beats Lee? Nothing wrong with putting the challenge out there for GGG's team to consider.
Angulo smothered him, Golovkin doesnt smother anyone hes quite patient, hes good at cutting off the ring but when his opponent throws he tries to slip punches which gets him off balance whereas Angulo just blocks with his face If Lara could keep Golovkin off balance by throwing alot of combos he could win a decision
Unfortunately, politics will get in the way- at least in the immediate future. However, if HBO doesn't invest enough in GGG's fights to land Martinez or another big opponent, I can see him packing up and moving to Showtime when the HBO agreement runs out. As for Erislandy- if Lara finds himself unable to secure a Canelo or Mayweather fight (which isn't a far-fetched scenario), it might be a better move for his career to move up to 160 and go after Kid Chocolate in the meantime. That would set up a GGG fight nicely, or if GGG moves up instead, Lara would potentially be in a good spot in a wide open division with historical prestige.
I don't know what you mean by 'lara (including rigo)', unless Rigo lives up Lara's ******* when he's not boxing. In any event, this would be a kick-ass fight. I don't know if Golovkin-Lee is a done deal. If it is Golovkin can fight Lara afterwards. Golovkin is 32 now. There's no time to waste.
Angulo was able to smother him by repeatedly cutting him down. One of GG best attributes is cutting off the ring and he does it a lot better than Angulo.
Would be good if this fight could be made. Interesting clash of styles for the spectators and a nice name on the winner's resume.
Seems to me like the Golovtards like to bring up the Angulo fight whenever Lara's name is mentioned but fail to bring up the FACT that Angulo got KO'ed. I'm confident in saying that if Golovkin trys to implement Angulo's tactics against Lara then he'll suffer the same result...
Its possible but GG is a level above Angulo in every department. In a proper sized ring Lara could keep poping his head back with straight shots down the pike.
