Definitely. He would have been viewed as a pound-for-pounder, top dog in his class, and you would see his name a lot more on all-time lists for 154. He would have been more marketable, too, so he probably wouldn't have spent as much time toiling around with guys like Smith, Rodriguez, Zaveck, Foreman, etc. He still wouldn't have got either of the Charlos or Cotto, however.
He definitely would have gotten some bigger fights but ultimately he like most Cubans don't have a big following in the states from a marketing standpoint. Canelo will always have a rabid Mexican fan base just like Chavez, Oscar etc. Tito had a huge Puerto Rican following that could sell out Madison Square garden in minutes. Fighters from that Cuban national program are all so good and technically sound, they are typically admired by boxing purists that understand how they were trained to fight, but the American and British boxing public are more interested in spending money on guys thatb produce knockouts and most Cuban fighters are groomed to outbox there opponents on the outside.
