I don't know how it compares to some others, but Corrales gained 16 pounds in a day against Mayweather. Not suprising considering the hell he had cutting weight. Gatti got major flak for doing this once too.
gatti vs. gamache is the fight ur prob thinkin of. gamache tried suing gatti over it recently i believe
chris eubank is a good one. his walking wieght was 185 pounds roughly and every week beofre fight time he would not eat or drink anything while training completly flat out. he would make 168 at the wiegh-in which would be very early in the morning so he could have breakfast and a half a gallon of water to drink. when he fought he was around 175-180 pounds against benn II you could see the size advantage eubank had over him. benn struggled to make wieght but chris killed himself to make wieght....people act like eubank was in ihs prime when he lost to collins...nah eubankl had burnt his body out by then. also this is why when he faced carl thompson a highly respected and long reigning cruiserwieght champ he gave him such a hiding becuase he was a cruiseriwgeht.
James Toney weighed 167lbs for his fight with Roy Jones, and was 184lbs on the night of the fight. Miguel Cotto weighed in at 140lbs against Branco I'm sure it was, and was 157lbs on fight night.
I'm not sure what Cotto weighed on fight night against Branco, but he weighed 157 against Corley on fight night after weighing 140 officially. Corley weighed 140 on fight night. Gatti weighed 160 on fight night against Gamache, after Gatti "weighed in" at 141. Joan Guzman went from 130 to 148 for the Soto fight I think.
Added Weight after Weigh In: S Harrison - 18lbs Guzman - 18lbs Pacman - 23lbs Corrales - 17lbs Castillo - 20lbs Hatton - 15lbs R Marquez - 20lbs Delahoya - 20lbs
I hate these bull**** weight gains, to me its kind of cheating and I really dislike it. One thing I like about Floyd, he fights at the weight he weighs in at.
When De la hoya was fighting at 130-135 he usually gained 15-20 lbs come fight night. Now he is usually around 6-8 lbs heavier.
If the weigh-in weights are correct, then some of these weight gains after the weigh-in seem impossible to me.
i dont mind when it's like 10 pounds heavier. becuase they have made the effort to make the wieght. guys who do wieght drain do terrible damage to your body you can think that starving yourself for 2 weeks while training in a full regime then coming in on fight night at around 10 pounds heavier then is simply safer. do you think that being heavy is an advantage?
