Wow, Bute is going to be very underrated by the boxing fraternity. I mean he's no ATG. Or even HOF candidate. But his resumé is genuinely pretty strong in terms of depth against good fighters.

    A-Level, B-level, C-level

When the majority of imbeciles in here use that ****, it's blatantly arbitrary bull****. Come up with an actual definition for what is A,B,C level, or STFU.

And no, coming up with a name for any given level is not a goddamn definition.

Just found wanting at the top level really. He isn't the first and won't be the last either.

Yeah is true, Froch took his soul but he could still make some good $ by fighting Hopkins and Stevenson.

Also he could have a fight with Bika @ 168 - 170 for the WBC SMW title.

I appreciate your honesty, that is in terms of calling out haters.

I personally used the ABC level when it comes to champions, titlists, contenders, fringe contenders and higher tier journeyman.

Guys like Gavern, Airrich, and Ding, guys like Adama and Brewer, Augustus, Holt...those are high level journeyman, fringe contenders.... guys who can win fights if their opponents aint legit, even beating contenders or other fringe contenders. Guys like Barrett who were once contenders, but have lost a step and have become gatekeepers. CLEVEL

Guys like Boytsov, Dimitrenko, Wach, Mitchell, Rosado, Stevens, Bika, Macklin, Judah, Bailey, USS Cunningham......guys who could win a title by beating a titlist, but they won't hold the title long or be able to defend it consistently vs other Blevel guys. They'll almost always lose to the elite A level guys. Bute is currently Blevel. There was a time that IMO, Bute was bonafide elite...A level.

Alevel is reseved for those guys who would likely almost never lose to a Blevel or Clevel. They win titles, hold them and defend.

Alevel elite.......guys like Floyd, Ward, Wlad, Pac, Golovkin, Martinez....these guys win titles, defend them against anyone, anywhere, and try like hell to unify. They don't ever seem to lose, and almost always dominate when winning. But they do sometimes get caught, but they almost always bounce right back to the very top.

    I don't think so......

I think his timing was off and he couldnt pull the trigger b/c every time he missed he ate monster shots by the dozen.

Bute can go back to the Dyah Davis's and Dimitri Sartison's of the division and regain his timing. Move back up against the Bikas and the Dirrels and regain a title.

He'll never beat KOvalev though.......and it'd be suicide for him to attempt it.:think

It's not too hard to understand really, Bute was(is) good enough to beat guys like Magee, Miranda, old Johnson, Andrade etc and could often look good doing it, but he's a bit of an inbetweener when it comes to levels and is not good enough or tough enough to cut at the very top against guys like Froch, Ward, Kessler etc. It's just how it is for some fighter sometimes.

Bute is afraid to get hit and he's gun shy. He's done at the top.

I often thought Bute looked nervous about what may come back against him when undefeated, but he seemed more nervous against Pascal.
I dont think he is very confident in his ability to take a big shot.
I dont know how Bute can come back, maybe against a top fighter whos not a massive puncher to get some confidence. Bute has speed, skill and power and could use that if confident about who hes facing I guess?

Naaaaaaw come on Ward does have self-respect. Bute is shot, and I'm a huge fan of his. HBO would never approve this. :bart

Ward needs a fight and has no options at 168. As for his self respect, this is a man who refused any catch weight with the LHW champ and said he would only fight him if he dropped 7lbs to his weight class, and then followed that up going after an even more shot than Bute version of Kelly Pavlik.

Round 12 and a move to 168 will be all HBO needs to sell that fight. A shot Bute would still be better than a prime Rodriguez. Also Bute may have turned a corner mentally with that 12th round.
