More like follow in Holy's footsteps and get in with Potvetkin. But yeah, that's most likely what's he's doing if it's not b/c he's dead broke and looking for a way to supplement his income by beating club fighters once a month for 2K.:D

Lots of people thought he beat Valuev. Would've gotten a title shot against Ruiz if he'd won. Probably could've outboxed Ruiz. A sad tale of woe is what it all is. Stay home Larry, and revel in the night you slapped around Holyfield at MSG...it was great.

Good post and that is exactly the case with the division right now.

And it has been for a long long time. Risk versus reward type matchmaking and lots of fights fans would enjoy are simply not made. Excitement for boxing fans has become about priority number 12 in the scheme of things to managers and networks. And just where are they without us? Is the stigma of a loss really that bad? Just how often do we really see a heavyweight fight where it is a big risk and a match where a good fighter is going to win and a good fighter is going to lose?

This rears its head with the old names still around as well. Why not have the McCalls/Holyfield/Tua/Rahman fight each other? They just dig up opponents and I guess next we'll get one of those guys to get Maskaev/Alex Stewart to come out of retirement and somehow parley a victory over that guy to title shot consideration. What they do not do is fight youth and reflexes nor a big puncher.

The problem would be that Larry already convincingly lost to Povetkin.

I guess Donald has some financial problems, since his comeback does not make much sense - he was never popular fighter (so he won't get a titleshot based on name and beating a few tomato cans), and while in his prime he was decent fighter, I doubt his "legendary" style would suit someone who is well after 40.

With a bit more confidence Larry Donald could´ve done a lot a few years ago. His jab and footwork were excellent. He just would´nt let his hands go.

Still, if he can get himself in shape, someone as Adamek is beatable for him.

That is a big if. He already looked spent against Povetkin, and at 44 I doubt he will be able to show excellent footwork for more than a couple of rounds. As he was never big puncher, the fight likely goes to the scorecards... and if he doesn't dominate Adamek, the judges will likely go with younger and more promising fighter.

Plenty of matches for him. I think he could beat a few youngster coming up.

He wasn't making anything happen near his physical prime, why would he make anything out of it now?

I expect him to be a far cry of his former self, just looking to get paid.

He is too tall and too weak to be a HW. That was not only proved in his loss to Bowe but even in his shutout win against Holyfield. Flashy hands, slick, fighting tall and good footwork. Simply no mental drive or physical strength to compete with the best. He is surely into making money. The Legend Donald Lol.

Any word on this comeback? Has he decided against it?
