Holmes tells a great Shavers story from his sparring partner days when they were all in camp together and played cards at night .. short version , there was a dispute over a hand with a serious amount of cash at stake and Shavers stood up, shook a massive fist, grabbed the money and stone cold serious said " I'm taking this and if anyone has a problem come and get it ". Holmes said not him, Blue Lewis, LeRoy Jones or anyone else said a damn thing. No one wanted any piece of Earnie in that sort of scene. Earnie kept the money.
