Larry Holmes as #1 Heavyweight of All-Time???

    I'm not saying he's the #1 heavyweight of all time, I myself flip-flop Ali and Louis like most, but I remember when I first joined ESB, someone had Holmes as #1............I let it slip by without asking his reasoning, and would loved to have heard it. Does anyone rank Holmes as #1???

    I rank him third. H2H I don't see him not having a very good chance against anyone no matter their style or size. Maybe they just went on h2h and nothing else.

    Perhaps H2H, I would love to know what it was so they could expand on it....or anyone else who ranks him as #1......

    I have him 5 or 6 alltime.

    Of those on my top ten list, he's probably the #1 ****.

    2) He was one of the highest boxing IQ's
    3) Elite ring generalship
    4) He was very dangerous when hurt and had the wherewithal to fight back very effectlively when he was buzzed
    5) Great chin
    6) Great Stamina
    7) Good variety of punches

    In terms of h2h he certainly ranks, analyse all you want, where he does as good any, and he trumps with the heart factor, which ultimatley means a lot.

    But number one heavy ever? No chance, just can't put him there, but great great boxer

    Agreed. Holmes was pretty tall, and also had good reach. He could in fight or out fight, box or slug. He threw excellent combinations, could deliver body shots, and had a good uppercut, which is rare for fighters who prefer to jab from the outside.

    Top 4 ATG at heavy in my book.
