    The Ali that was fighing in the Thrilla in Manila beats Holmes quite convincingly. That version of Holmes anyway.

    I don't think he could have beaten Ali at that point.

    Holmes hadn't faced particularly tough competition yet and probably would have suffered from 'sparring partner syndrome'" if he had fught Ali. It would have been similar if Oliver McCall and Mike Tyson fought right after they sparred for a long tme.
