I don't know that Holmes jab was better, but it was faster and that would be enough. I don't think Holmes' footwork would allow him to keep Liston away, and the fight would be very exciting at times. I think that Liston would make Holmes work as hard as Norton did, but I think Holmes will would break Liston before the 15th if that were the case.
And why not? Yes, Holmes had the style, tools and skills to beat Sonny Liston. Only thing is, Holmes tended to get caught and dropped. He always got up and fought back to win (forget the Tyson fight) but, could he do so if caught and dropped by Sonny. I would make this at least a 70:30 fight (i.e. 30 for Sonny).
