Fair enough but Cooper wasn't either mate. As you stated he was no world beater but he was a good, solid fighter with a lot of courage and a very good left hook. It's not one of Ali's better wins by any means but he seems to get a lot of criticism for it just because he had to climb off the floor to do it.Factor his relative inexperience and it's not too bad an effort. Plenty of other future greats had to also survive scary moments like this on their way up as well,it's just that Ali's is much more publicised.
Who said Henry Cooper was a bum... Ol 'Enry one tough 'Brit'. Definitely worthy of a 'title shot'. Not a world beater, not to be taken literally. The brutal knock-out loss to Patterson kind of hurt is 'aura' a little bit.
Rocket-Man. Yes, Cassius Clay usually gave away the first 2 rounds, to let the other fighter slow down. That wouldn't have worked against a young Larry Homes, and would have put Clay down 2 rounds off the bat. Of course we would never know, he fought alot of old/beat-up guys.
