Holmes would beat Foreman in a ring, but Foreman would get Holmes in a closet or phone booth...

Tyson was heading down after he KO'd Spinks in 1988.... Firing Cayton and Rooney and slugging ***** Green in Harlem was a sign he was going down....... Hooking up with "Horne and Halloway" was stupid.......

Who wins between the Prime Lewis who had "no jab" & the Prime Tyson who "never fought anybody who was going to hit him back"?
I've got "no jab" Lewis by KO. Clearly Tyson only ever beat people with intimidation, & in 38 fights Douglas was the only opponent to hit him back.

  4. it for sure, foreman would kill holmes in the street. and i am not sure if holmes would beat a focused prime foreman74 in the ring.

  5. ali said " i am the greatest" but he did prove it on the ring.
holmes said"i would beat anyone" and he did prove ****.

Larry is, always has been, and always will be, a ****.

He can never give credit to another fighter from the HW division.

Holmes won his first 48 fights, didn't lose until he was almost 36 years old, and was the best heavyweight in the world for 5 or 6 years straight, and made 20 defences.

Holmes is still a bit bitter about not being an Ali like star. The negative stuff he said about Ali, I think he doesn't mean. I mean he has said before that he felt "Ali was the best, and had the best jab in his opinion". The stuff about Tyson, Lewis, and Foreman I think he means wholeheartedly. I'm a Larry Holmes fan but he really needs to stop worrying about the past and move on.

I don't know what he said about Ali, but he's right if he thinks Ali was overrated in the 70s, IMO.
Ali had some epic gutsy performances in the 70s, but he certainly wasn't invincible - far from it. I think that whole era gets exaggerated as some sort of "golden age" of heavyweights.
In television audience numbers and popularity maybe it was, but the quality of most of the fighters and championship fights were same as in other eras.
Holmes' problem is he wants to glorify that era too when it comes to comparing to more recent eras. He's right in some things he says, IMO, but over-the-top in many instances.
BUT he's entitled to his opinion as much as anyone on this board.
Funny how he takes a lot of quite nasty flak for expressing opinions on fighters, when most here do so and don't even come close to having Holmes' accomplishments.
