Jimmy Jacobs was a good replacement father figure when Cus died in '85, but sadly Jacobs died in '88 & venemous snake King became the new father figure. :verysad

Suprisingly Tyson was known as a loyal follower. I think thats clearly reflected by his behavior pre and post 1988 by the people that surrounded him. I think Tyson was always headed for trouble with women though, he grew up being so insecure around them, he clearly had respect problems once he gained success.

Or just acted like a respectful human being. His mother was a drug using prostitute who was never around. I cant even imagine what Tyson went home to everyday but Im sure it scarred him for life. The local kids called him dirty Mike, because he was always in dirty smelly clothes, his teeth were rotten and he basically lived like an animal. Not saying he has an excuse for his actions, but the guy came a long way and by a lot of luck.
Makes you wonder how many talented kids out there, never get the chance that Tyson got, yet he seemed to forget all that.

I always felt Holmes was greater than Foreman easily just on his versitile style and he had a good solid resume. Not even close even though Foreman had the better wins with Norton and Frazier, Holmes had a longer list to top fighters he fought for his reign. This was an odd case of . Foreman had good wins, but could not keep the win streak for too long. He was limited. Larry had a long reign and he seemed more complete and durable mentally. Foreman could come back later and hand pick guys like Bert Cooper, but he had 3 chances at a title in his second career and won once against weak chinned Michael Moorer. Even Morrison beat him. Even at that age I think Holmes finds a way to beat Morrison. Just a more complete fighter with quicker hands and skills.

But the way he insults other legends does bother me, and his excuses when he lost. . He is a little like Hagler in that he is bitter. Marvin actually believes he beat Leonard, when he fought terribly that night against Ray, same as Holmes in the first Spinks fight. They thought just because those guys were moving up they won.

One last comment. Larry says he only trained two months for Tyson, which is not terrible. I do know that after Tyson beat Biggs in October of 1987, Larry in the post fight was interviewed and said something like "I am no kid" meaning he would not be roughhoused by Tyson. And he wasn't. He was hit clean, but not roughhoused like Biggs was. But that interview was 3 months before the Tyson fight, so he knew about it awhile. I guess it is true, all fighters have excuses.

He also fought a 15 round exhibition shortly before the fight, something he has seemed to forgotten.

  8. not he was not. foreman destroyed 2 great fighters in 2 rounds like kids . joe frazier and peak norton(they both did beat ali). holmes fought competitive fights against average fighters and buckets of garbage. prime foreman was much more dominant than prime larry. foreman won the title in his second career(holmes never did). foreman is the oldest hw champ ever, and the strongest hw ever, top 2 hardest punchers. larry holmes is not the best in nothing. except maybe his jab. holmes would have his chance to beat foreman because styles make fights and he would run like a *****. but foreman would kill him in the street

Tyson was a scumbag from an early age.
There's a lot to like about Tyson - he can be engaging, intelligent and his vulnerability and public seemingly unrehearsed sensitivity makes him a rarity among celebrity "stars". He's full of human weakness.
But there's no doubt in my mind that he's done some very bad things. He grew up beating up old women for their welfare cash. He would offer to carry their shopping bags then punch their faces in when they got out of view. Let's not forget he'd settled a lot of groping and assault incidents out of court before he got done for ****.
Let's face it, the man was a nasty piece of ****.

Razor Ruddock wasn't intimidated and stood up to him and hit Mike back with some real bombs, and Tyson emerged victorious.

I remember Tyson saying he had seen that but never hurt old women, just robbed them.
