Frazier was being gracious and also realistic.

Holmes on the other hand had sour grapes; he clearly envied Tyson's stardom.

  3. i agree, i think that larry holmes never did talk objectively about mike tyson, but also frazier was being nice on tyson because he destroyed his son, so the guy who killed his son should be a monster

    About Bonavena ?????

  8. norton was made for tyson, mike would destroy norton in 1 or 2 rounds like foreman and shavers did, (foreman was not in the video because he was training for cooney), i only would put my money on ali and foreman (of these guys) to beat prime tyson. prime frazier and prime holmes would have his chance but i would not put my money on them.

Bonavena was almost ko'd by Jimmy Ellis, and got knocked out in one punch by Ali, who was a light hitter. In that fight Bonavena was out of gas, but still, he for some reason got rep as iron chinned guy for going distance with Frazier. He had Frazier ready to go in one fight, knocked him down twice, needed one more knockdown for fight to be stopped under 3 knockdown rule. So what does he do? He runs! He just starts back peddling rest of round. Guy was a head case.

Norton froze against punchers, can anyone imagine him against tTyson?

I strongly disagree. Tyson would kill frazier and norton. The fact that frazier didn't have the physical demensions or the style to beat Tyson would spell defeat. Frazier could only fight 1 way and that's coming forward and against Tyson that would be dissatrous. Add the fact that Frazier had a tremendous fighting heart and wouldn't try to back away would further seal his fate..

Norton had the physical demensions (height and reach) but not the heart. He always seemed to freeze up against the big punches and his slow feet would be a hinderance to him when he got hurt. The first time that Tyson hurt Norton he would jump all over him and take him out.

Yes. I've always thought Oscar would outlast Tyson. I am talking fifteen rounds.

  14. I AGREE WHIT HE MOST OF YOUR POST, BUT I WOULD SAY THAT NORTON DID NOT HAVE THE CHIN(NOT HEART)
frazier had disadvantage in the style against tyson, but it is nothing about the size, actually frazier was a bit bigger than tyson, he is 5´11 and tyson 5´10 and frazier had longer reach as well, in their prime frazier weighed 206 pounds and tyson weighed 215 pounds against holmes, tyson was barely 10 pounds heavier and it was all muscle, pure gym, not natural weight in my opinion, buster mathis weighed 245 when frazier destroyed him, it is about styles.you would be surprised watching current images of tyson and frazier, frazier looks naturally bigger, their structural bony were around the same size

Joe Frazier 'wrote' an article for RING magazine once, portraying how he'd beat Mike Tyson.

But here he is just giving props to the then current champion - quite rightly. I'm sure Frazier can remember having people say "Marciano would have beat him", "Louis would have beat him", "Max Baer would have beat him" etc., when he himself was champion.
Tyson at the time was young and undefeated and doing his job well, and that's what Frazier was getting at.

I don't believe Norton would beat Tyson. I think Tyson would probably KO him early.

Bonavena would stand a much better chance. Ringo was no joke. Tyson would find him very very awkward and difficult to nail with the clean shots. And Ringo would make it rough.
