    Jack,,

Can't get the definitive $$ amounts for Holmes vs Berbick
    But it may have been;
Larry Holmes $1,125,000 and #5 Trevor Berbick $175,000.

I think $1,300,000 was the fight purse total.

Trevor got $350,000 for beating up Muhammad Ali who got $1,100,000.

Those were the released $$$ amounts.

Yes, Muhammad Ali did not get the guarantee of $10,000,000 at first,
or the $8,000,000, and maybe not even the $6,100,000.

He did sue Don King (Mr. Honest) for $1,270,000 of owed money.

Not bad for a guy who worked for $3.00 / Hour as a steel worker.

And who was making $165 / Week as Earnie Shavers sparring partner.

:good Great work on the list.

I didn't realise Holmes had earned so much cash!

Do you have earning figures for other fighters?

That purse money for Norton and Holmes seems real high to me. Even though it was 1978, the "Norton-Holmes" fight was held at the indoor arena at Caesers Palace that has about a 5,000 seating capacity and the fight was aired by national (ABC) television.... How did Don King manage to pay Ken Norton $3.7 million clams without PPV sales? I have no doubt that Holmes supposed $500,000 grand check was chopped to $50,000 grand after King was done ****in' his ass hard...
    :think

    MR.BILL:huh

Kenny's originally listed fight purse was $2,700,000.

And Larry Holmes was set at $300,000.

But the fight purses were re-adjusted.

Ken Norton (some of his fight purses)
    vs. Charlie Reno,,,,,,,$300
    vs. Muhammad Ali I,,,$50,000
    vs. Muhammad Ali II,,$750,000
    vs. Duane Bobick,,,,,,$500,000
    vs. Jimmy Young,,,,,,,$1,500,000
vs. Larry Holmes,,,,,,,$2,700,000 (As reported by Sports Illustrated)

Larry Holmes was scheduled to fight #9 Stan Ward on April 17, 1977

Holmes was ranked #4 at the time, and the winner would have been offered
a Title shot vs **Muhammad Ali (as per the Associated Press wire) in September 1977.

Yes, I do agree,,,,,,,,,But Larry has all his senses and is loaded with $$$$

Larry Holmes first WBC Title defense was supposed to be against Alfio Righetti
    in September 1978.
Fight Purse; ** Larry Holmes $1,500,000 vs. #10 Alfio Righetti $200,000 (ABC-TV Fight)

Muhammad Ali, has been mumbling since 1977,,,,,,,,,what did it prove..
