Spinks, Ali, Berbick, Norton, Shavers, Cooney, Cobb, M Frazier, Williams......

Compare that to a shot Louis, Ezzard, Walcott and Cockell.

Larry Holmes was much better than Rocky Marciano.

a fair point. But Marciano fought a more shot Louis than Holmes did with Ali. If you know what I mean.

Leon still wasn't that good, a pretty easy fighter for Holmes to destroy.

Well if we break it down Spinks actually beat Larry (twice) so he's out - Ali was in first stages of Parkinson's on thyroid drugs which made him unable to sweat and was severely damaged goods alround so he's out, Berbick was very average in a very average era, Norton was Larry's toughest fight even though he was dredging out the last remnants, Shavers would've had his head boxed off by the likes of Ez Charles and Jersey Joe etc, Cooney was a hyped white hope novice, Cobb?? Give me a break Cobb was a BUM straight out - to even mention Cobb in the same breath as Ezzard Charles and Jersey Joe Walcott or even Rex Layne and Roland LaStarza is sacrilage, Marvis Frazier (????!!) hahaha don't make me laugh, Carl the Truth fair dues good fighter and pushed Larry to the edge.

Now if you'd have said Tim Witherspoon then I'd say hell yeah great fighter on ther night he fought (and as far as I'm concerned beat) Larry.

Plus did Larry have to pull it out with his nose split in half though - and did Larry have to do it all with the physical limitations that Rocky had? And the comparatively vastly limited amateur schooling and background

haha oooh you meant Leon Spinks (??!!) :rofl:rofl and you're using Leon Spinks to argue that Larry had a tougher route to 48-0??!! :patsch sorry but that is laughable mate - you need a SERIOUS reality check - your argument may actually have some grounding but you're using completely the wrong fighters to get your point over - plus you might wanna add that Larry Holmes got to the greatest AGE undefeated (36 I think) which in itself is a great great acomplishment - to be honest though I tend to think it's not his opposition which made Larry great - it was Larry himself - he was just a great boxer and champion - he could've been fighting stiffs all the way - it doesn't change what a great boxer he was - thats just who happened to be around at the time

    Wrong.

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VR9zg7B-4p8[/ame]

Louis could still knock people out, he still had power and the jab. He just couldn't pull the trigger anymore. Louis had much more left then Ali.

Ali was completely shot by the time he fought Holmes. He had no power, no speed, no combos, no movement, just had nothing left.
