Holmes did not even dominate his era. He got gifts against Witherspoon and Williams, he openly ducked Page and Thomas, never unified a belt, and lost to a LHW.

What is more, at the time, people knew it. The legend of Larry Holmes only came after the post-40 comeback.

As for who would trouble Larry- Byrd, Povetkin, Haye, Ibragimov, Thompson, Pulev, McCline, Chagaev all would have given Holmes a run for his money. He just wasn't that good.

Some people forget pretty fast. What exactly was Holmes style? When someone got close to him, he tied him up/clinch him and play outside only.
Holmes have insane jab, but Klitschko is simply better version of Holmes, he is smarter, faster and probably stronger at his peak 2006-2012.
And Larry Holmes backwards movement f*** him against Spinks. It was terrible.
