Larry Holmes: If I fought who Wladimir Klitschko fought, I'd have 40 title defenses

Are you friggin' serious....How would Vitali or Vlad KO Holmes?
The only one heavyweight throughout history who could, and did accomplish that feat was Mike Tyson, and even then it was against an old Holmes who had been out of the ring some 16 months.

Holmes would have made a mess of Vitali's face ala Lewis with his piston jab and won by TKO. Wlad would collapse from exhaustion, or fight waved over with him out on his feet.

Prime Holmes set a grueling pace neither Klit has ever seen in their entire careers. He just had to many skills and lateral movement, punching in combination. That big right hand. He was the entire package. KO'ing Holmes? Not happenin'!

    Probably because they're white.

Holmes was a certified badass. In his prime he fought everyone and it wasn't until later in his career he started cherrypicking Floyd Mayweather style. Even in his 40's he beat a prime Mercer, lost a razor thin decision to McCall (who had just starched Lewis in 2) and gave a prime Holyfield all he could handle.

The 80's heavyweight scene is a golden era compared to the last 10 years. The heavyweights are pathetic nowadays.

LOL says the guy who fought Scott Frank and Lorenzo Zenon as title defenses. Holmes had several garbage defenses and even then he didn't fight Page or Thomas but somehow managed to fight Frazier? OK Larry you sound like the bitter man you always have.

How many times must we repeat this:

Holmes did not even dominate his era. He arguably lost to Norton, got gifts against Witherspoon and Williams, OPENLY ducked Page and Thomas, never unified a belt, and lost to a LHW.

What is more, AT THE TIME, PEOPLE KNEW IT. The legend of Larry Holmes only came after the post-40 comeback. All of you who believe that he was some kind of celebrated champ believe so because you are young and don't remember the era.

    He just wasn't that good.

I remember his era and it was poor. If he is dethroned by lhw Spinks he is smashed by Pov and Haye. The guy must have Alzheimer's, taken too many punches anyway. That Spinks would be given a severe beating by Wlad.

Holmes and Holyfield are bitter old men with ZERO gallantry and poise. When you hear them speak you just know they have a sub 80 IQ. Cringworthy.

Bitterness and pure lack of humility is making an after fight video mocking the guy you just beat. And making that guy walk through the crowd over puddles of mud to get to the ring.

    Absolute disgraceful behaviour.

Haye and Chisora broke bottles off each others head , but when it was all said and done they put it to rest and agreed the loser give up 30 grand to charity.

Wlad is a fake nice guy , rather very pompous and arrogant.

Well when it comes to people being bitter about Wlad, we had to know you'd show up didn't we?

Haye and Chisora are absolute disgraces with THEIR behaviour, of course, you Brits think those lame theatrics are entertaining.

You can say what you want about Wlad, but the proof suggests he is a good guy. I have proof of it in my house.

Peak Mercer was a better win than any of Wlad's. And this is 40+ yo Holmes. I'd argue it's also a more impressive performance than any of Wlads. It was a thorough boxing clinic and didn't involve excessive fouling like a lot of Wlads wins do.

'Peak Mercer' lost a UD to fringe contender Jesse Ferguson who then lost he is next 3 bouts, two by stoppage to other fringe men. Nah.
