No doubt Holmes would have been more dominate in this era.

    :hey

Holmes said Marciano couldn't hold his jockstrap!!

Study his record... He beat lots of washed up guys
like many champions are known for...

Holmes best wins over 'good' fighters that were
not considered washed-up or old at the time
were guys Mike Tyson destroyed easily...

Tyson also destroyed Holmes with ease...

Tyson said he would get Holmes back for his
merciless beating of a washed-up Ali...

    and he did!!

    :yep

Holmes is always a sorepuss but he's scared that
Waldo Klitschko will take his title as being the best
Jab and Grab Heavyweight of all times!!!

See the difference between classic ATGs like Max Schmeling who always spoke gallantly about modern day champions. And then a street-educated clown like Holmes, who just talks smack about modern day fighters.

On the 80s and 90s scale measurement of Heavyweight
Greatness that people are always talking about...

Wilder and Briggs would be household names back then with
the only major sports vehicle being "Wide World of Sports" showing
all of their "Big" fights of them destroying Hyped Tomato Cans...

Not many people had HBO then but they would have showed
Wilder and Briggs destroying bums on national TV ending in
a Mega-Fight on HBO broadcasts at stadiums so they could
milk $$$ out your average Joe that can't get cable...

People today would salivate thinking about those Great
Champions of the past... Wilder... Briggs... Truth Williams... lol...
If only it was the 80s and 90s again...

Norton, Williams, Bey, Marvis Frazier in their prime would
have never been anything special today...

imo Tyson had an easy time cleaning house when
he came along... destroying guys that Holmes
struggled with... think about it... C-ooney came out
of nowhere and was smashing the Norton's and
Lyles like they were nothing.... After the Holmes
fight most said C-ooney was a glass-jawed fraud
    and just a hype-job to make $$$!!!

Does anyone think Berbick or Bey would be
    champions today???

    ....

lol... Sure... anyone can take the Wilder or Briggs route
steamrolling through Tomato Cans to get attention or title
shots today but not many people know them compared
to the 70s... 80s... and 90s... Heavyweight Boxing was
hyped like football... It was fading in the 90s but still far
    above what it is today....

Heavyweights were household names... there weren't 500
channels on cable... internet... smart phones... people's brains
are scattered in a million directions today....

70s and 80s most people watched 3 channels...

ABC... CBS... NBC... NBC Wide World of Sports...

Heavyweight fights got shown to a much larger audience
that had nothing else to watch...

the evening news reported on heavyweights and
    their fights all the time...

Heavyweight Title fights got Super Bowl like attention...

Called the "Greatest Title in Sports"...

today it barely registers in the news anywhere...

They will report on Floyd Duckweathers fights tho...

    :yep

I can assure you if Fury topples Wlad in Germany he will be all over the media here and be on all talk shows he wants, and be front page. Barely registers my ass. How may Holmes fights were 55,000 sell outs? Did he ever sell 10k tickets?

Holmes was hugely unpopular. Never sold any tickets. You think if Holmes enters a bar these days people recognize him?

They'd recognize ODLH, SRL or Foreman. No one recognizes Holmes. That's why he's bitter.

People who know boxing would. And as for people who don't watch boxing, who the **** cares if they didn't?

His point was Holmes cares and is butthurt, hence the type of outburst on Wlad that doesn't stack up to scrutiny just like his Rock jockstrap comment.

Being American I understand how arrogant
Americans are... No matter that Soccer is the
#1 Sport in the World, Americans mostly hate
it therefore it doesn't exist... As Americans
started losing in heavyweight boxing they just
mostly started ignoring the division like it
    doesn't exist...

I saw the rapid decline as these two brothers
called 'the Klitschkos' were on TV making
Americans look soft... soon after Lewis KTFO
there hero Mike Tyson after beating Holyfield
and Holyfield got beat by P.R. John Ruiz...

then you had Klitschko, Ibragimov, and Maskaev
    as the 3 Heavyweight Champions...

Briggs was called the American Hope as he
got lucky and KO'd Liakhovich but was easily
beaten right after by Russian 'Ibragimov'...

Americans say it's boring... that's why they
don't watch but it's really because they feel
    cheated and inferior...

They tried jumping sports to MMA... they
fell for the Brock 'C-ooney' Lesnar band-wagon
only to watch him get exposed as a fraud...

Go re-watch the entire HBO broadcast of
Holmes vs C-ooney and it's obvious... Listen
to the obvious comments made throughout!!

Americans are sore losers... America is losing
right now in every aspect from debt to trade to
to losing jobs... 138 million American adults
don't even work and they say the unemployment
rate is 5%... we're not even good liers anymore!!

Americans stick to Football... they always win
at that... NFL... Americans only allowed!! lol

I know Limeys often comment on here how
funny Americas decline is but if the USA falls
then Russia and China will divide up Europe
the day after... they won't even break a sweat!
