Holmes was an outboxer. A guy who relied on his legs and jab to allow him to outbox guys from a distance.

Holmes at 6'3 can't keep Joshua at bay unless he has fast feet. The 42 year old Holmes has slow feet and will be a sitting duck for Joshua's punches.

As far as Holmes stopping Joshua, whom did Holmes stop in his career? He never stopped Norton or Witherspoon. Or most guys super durable.

Holmes will struggle to outbox Joshua with his slow feet and either will lose a decision to the younger faster harder hitting man or possibly get stopped late.

Holmes isn't Usyk - he doesn't have Usyk's ability to pressure guys. Different styles.

 

It would be competitive now never mind Holmes in his 40s

 

Holmes was still pretty damn good at that age. Would be a solid fight.

AJ can bang. Always a chance he gets lucky, hurts Holmes early in a round, swarms him, manages to end it. Outside of something like that though, I don’t see him taking out second career peak Holmes. Holmes probably takes a close decision.

Now, a prime Holmes? Makes AJ look bad, just like Usyk did, wins a comfortable decision.
