Holmes was a good fighter but I think Lewis and Tyson would have knocked him TFO even in his prime.

He's right about tyson, wrong about lewis. Tysons win over holmes is like camachos win over SRL.

Larry Holmes just never had the skill set to deal with a Prime Tyson's head movement.

I remember reading an Interview with Larry Holmes in Boxing Monthly. It went something like this:

"If Ali beat me, nobody would have taken it away from him, so why should they take it away from me?"

"When Tyson fought me, I was in it for the money. I wasen't anywhere near my prime. In my prime, I would have destroyed him".

Holmes is a GREAT fighter. But those two quotes (not word for word) from the same interview, pretty much sum him, and his opinion on fighters up.

:rofl Yes in Holmes' prime he fought many like Tyson didn't he? I remember his prime, he was fighting one bum after another.

I gave up with the interview at exactly this point.

Holmes saying Lewis quit against McCall is either a blatent lie on his part or proof that he never saw the fight in the first place. Lewis got knocked down and hurt bad by McCall but he beat the count and wanted to continue, the referee stopped the fight against Lewis's wishes because Lewis was unsteady on his feet. The key points here being that Lewis wanted to continue but the ref wouldn't let him so how anyone can even attempt to say he quit in this fight is beyond belief.

i always remember watchin 'tysons greatest hits' on ESPN classic and he was doin the analysis for the fight and he reckons the only reason he got got KTFO was cos he got his arm stuck in the ropes.. he was waiting for the big counter that wold of levelled tyson haha couldnt believe it

didnt mention that fact he had the sh1t beat out of him every minute of every round before it though funnily enough
