I agree with most of that except that Tyson's sustained attack would really damage Larry and probably lead to a middle to late rounds stoppage.

Tyson was relentless to the body and every punch he threw was dangerous. He had power in both hands as opposed to Shavers who carried his monstrous power in only his right hand. Its a close fight and I think Mike would get the stoppage more likely than slowing down and getting out worked by Larry in the middle to late rounds.

Kinda hard to say, consistency was Tyson's problem. Rooney used to mention that he had to really push Tyson to work the body. Tyson displayed his bodypunching prowess during the Biggs fight because in his mind, he believed Biggs stole his Olympic spot.

Not only did he have it in both hands, but Shavers only prowess in regards to punching was one-shot power. Tyson had that too, in addition to blazing hand speed, multiple angles, accuracy, punch selection and combinations, a sustained body attack and top shelf finishing ability.

Add to the fact that Mike Tyson started training to beat Larry Holmes when he was 14,after what he saw in Las Vegas,1980.

Outside of the people who know there stuff I always felt a bit bad for Larry Holmes and don't think he has ever got the recognition he deserves.

Holmes struggled mightily with far lesser fighters than Tyson.

Holmes kind of gets a sympathy vote because people thought he worked hard and got a little bit jobbed by following Ali, which he probably did, but the truth is he was a very good but not great champion. Much better than the Patterson's, not close to the level of a Liston. Just above average. Prime Mike would just beat him up, end of story. And I'm no Holmes hater, I think the man is hilarious when he isn't jumping over a car trying to kick someone's ass.
