The 21 years old Tyson humiliated and destroyed Larry Holmes easily.
    It's nice to see.

I don't think he really needs to, any more than Mayweather for instance need talk about 'the Antonio Margarito duck'.

That was a legit duck, to fight Marvis Frazier, and, OMG, Scott Frank. But times heal all wounds, i guess.

Intuitively we would think that Tyson hit harder, but it is not a given.

It might be the case that Frazier had equal or better power, but was a much less effective finisher, because he didn’t put punches together in the same way.

Alternatively Holmes might be giving a sincere testimony, but it might be skewed by the fact that he was younger and less experienced at world level, when he sparred Frazier.

Holmes has given credit to Tyson.

That is a possibility, as Tyson was a better finisher and did have the more explosive delivery - but I really suspect it comes down to a punch by punch comparison. Frazier's left hook over Tyson's, sure. (although Mike's was devastating)

I can't imagine that Frazier's hooks - tempered by headgear and sparring gloves (and even allowing for whatever mental calculation Larry made to adjust for that) - felt harder than all of Tyson's rights (which actually was his stronger punching hand, despite the signature-like fame of his left hook, rivaling that of Frazier's)

I mean, between the clinching and the leaping backward taking some of the sting off most of them, it wasn't like Holmes ate tons of flush power shots while it lasted...but he ate enough to, you'd think, get a proper gauge on Mike's power...which is why I think most of us are skeptical when he doesn't give it particularly high accolades.

Frazier broke two of Larry's ribs in sparring.

The funny thing is Tyson actually knocked Holmes the f*** out.

And he would have sparked Frazier as well.

Frazier was a good man, but there are no miracles here. Or something to that effect.
