It did. Whitaker had them set up a table and everything, just to sign a whopping two autographs for some white girls (who he flirted with all the while). I overheard Bert Sugar giving the Brophy guy some crap. I heard him say "I've seen prison riots more organized than this, what the hell's going on?". All and all it was a fun time, but there were some pretty major flaws.
The HOF can kiss his big black behind. Since were on an uncensored forum, they can kiss his big black ass.
First of all, I doubt that this incident has seen its conclusion. Frankly, I think the outcome will change at some point, as I really can't see the boxing hall of fame disguarding one of it's most deserving members. Secondly, should the hall of fame decide to stand by its decision, then it will only be responsible for its own demise, given that it is notorious for making unpopular induction choices anyway...
Yeah go Holmes! :happy Gotta love Larry Holmes a rebel to the core. And **** the HOF. If that's how they treat fighters they shouldn't be suprised when fighters they book don't turn up.
the deal was that Larry did not want to sign any photos or anything that the folks brought with them. If you wanted his autograph, you had to buy his book for $25 and he would sign the book. But that was only at that particular event. I saw Larry signing other stuff at the sat. night dinner and after the induction ceremony on Sun....
I just had it confirmed today, the whole article was BS. Larry's son in law (my trainer) was there and none of that happend. Ed Brophy is still a dick non the less, he was all ignorant and such, but that whole article was made up. Larry did get pissed off at Hector "Macho" Camacho though. Camacho would walk by Larry and hit him in the head. After a while Larry got pissed off and told Camacho that if he did it again that he was gonna come out of retirement and fight him for real right there.
Nope, they were lucky there were guys like Michael Carbajal, Toby Gibson (ref) and plenty of people to work out.
