Honestly holmes should worry about greg page and pinklon thomas before he worries about frazier ali and lennox.

Well, there's no point taking on his opinion about Lewis because he's also often said Lennox "never fought anyone that fought back."

Which insults quite a sweep of boxers, some in particular known for their fighting spirit such as Holyfield, Mercer, Morrison et al.

So it's not credible, just insulting for the sake of it.

Still was an awesome boxer, though.

Coming in when he did, right after that great heavyweight era, I remember Larry was always explaining himself then too. Something to the effect of, "I beat everyone around...I don't know what I have to do", that was the general line of defense.

I'm sure the press rubbed his nose in it, and no doubt the fans weren't much kinder, but still, he'd be a much more attractive personality without that giant chip on his shoulder.

He's from my home state, but I don't know anything about his upbringing. Could be his mother gave him no love, but he never was one of my favorite guys; though I do remember detecting a little tinge of regret I thought I saw in his eyes in the Ali fight, and I did find that endearing. These guys, all of them, even the humble ones, can't help but get hooked on the public attention; in that sense, fighters are just like everybody else-actors, musicians, doctors, lawyers, beautiful women, anybody who gets a little more than is reasonable, and when it's gone, or when they don't get what they have been conditioned to see as their due, the worst can cry and belly ache and throw themselves onto the floor in a temper tantrum like an obnoxious spoiled brat you see out with his parents and think to yourself, 'They must be real assholes to let that kid get away with that bull****!'

Ali was FAR more of a flawed person than Holmes ever was.

Ali ****ed anything with two legs and a vagina in his camps (As Holme's himself and others have attested to) and went through how many wives again?

Larry for all his quirks is a very down to Earth kind of guy, where Ali is larger than life and in a lot of cases more myth than fact.

Still with the woman he's been married to for decades now, his first wife even, too.

*Waits for lynching and public outcry*

It was laughable that he was implying Muhammad Ali wasn't shot by the time they fought. Laughable at the very least.

Holmes is not speaking the truth when he says stuff like he beat a Prime Ali or Lewis has no heart. Lewis had heart, he may not have the best of chins, but when push came, Lewis prove himself, vs Kilt, Mercer, and the 2 Holyfiled fights.

Muhammad Ali of the Holmes fight was one of the worst shot fighters in the history of the sport. Completely different fighter in every single aspect.

Going through wives like toilet paper and ****ing hundreds/thousands of woman like certain basketball players doesn't convince me of him being a greater "man" than Larry Holmes.

Wait, I could be wrong, but how many times was Ali married, two or three? And he's been with the same wife now for what, thirty years? The guy's absolutely pious now, for God's sake. So he had a youth, he liked his women, alot of us did and do. Can you imagine the women he had throwing themselves at him? Beautiful women! I'm not saying it's admirable, but understandable? I think so. Also think alot of us should be so lucky. Life's short my friend. It's the things you walked away from you'll regret on your deathbed.

I don't know how this became a "which is the better person of Holmes and Ali" - thread, but while we're on the subject...

Ali did many stupid things in his youth, like slapping around his wife because her skirt was too low and all the while sleeping around himself, but today he has outgrown most of that and is openly sorry for his mistakes of the past. That Holmes on the other hand still feel the need to bad mouth other great fighters like he does is actually quite sad. It just goes to show that he doesn't feel secure enough in himself and in his own legacy as a fighter.
