I disagree entirely. Larry has every tool necessary to beat George.

Could Holmes have proved he was a greater fighter by fighting the best of his era? Yes.....Did Holmes have a lot of handpicked fighters who turned out to be ordinary or very green fighters? YES....Did Holmes Biggest risk come against Shavers and Cooney who were very suspect(Shavers) and Protected (Cooney).? YES..Did Holmes rematch he hardest fights like Louis,Ali,Marciano ? NO...Did he rematach Weaver,Norton,Witherspoon,Williams? NO Did Holmes have the potential of beating all the fighter he avoided? YES.....Should these negatives take a toll on Holmes legasy? YES....DID Holmes shoot himself in the leg with his angry mouth and bitterness (while he was a very protected fighter with the benifit of a ranking boost(John Ort and King) ? YES....does he not learn from his mistakes? YES

Very well put! I agree with you totally! Holmes definitely has his share of faults. He was a great fighter, but he wasn't a perfect champion.

Norton didn't deserve a rematch and Weaver won another title, and King knew it wasn't going to be a superfight, so he wasn't going to lose anymoney in a unification match between the two.

I disagree Norton deserved a rematch because of how close the fight was, this may not have been a big money fight though.

Getting knocked out by Shavers doesn't warrant a rematch IMO.

How many times have we gone over this?

Norton got knocked out after Holmes refused to give him a rematch.

Exactly! The main point is that Holmes didn't fight Norton again period! Holmes never rematched fighters that gave him close, tough fights. He never unified the titles, and he avoided the better fighters in the division from 1983 on.

Holmes should learn to keep his mouth shut more. Criticizing a guy like Lennox Lewis who accomplished more than Holmes did is absurd and just reeks of jealousy! Lewis didn't have the title defenses that Holmes did, but he took on the best fighters of his era and convincingly beat every opponent that had defeated him. He also regained the championship twice!

Lewis accomplished more than Holmes did; Foreman is way richer and much more popular than Holmes is.....DEAL WITH IT LARRY!!!!

I think he's full of **** about Lennox Lewis. I won't say anymore than that because what he said about LL is so blatantly absurd. I do agree with him somewhat about Ali. I think a prime Holmes would have been poison for Ali. You think Norton was trouble for Ali? Holmes as well as Lewis would have been a much bigger deal.

Larry would have gotten his butt kicked by Foreman. I agree he(Larry)
would try to box him and it would work for a couple of rounds until George caught up with him. The Shavers "that fought Holmes" was
over-rated. He was just winging that right hoping for a miracle (Shavers almost got it).

True. He was over in Liverpool a few weeks ago and I nearly went to see him. But knew I'd probably want a fight with him by the end of the dinner. :D

He was interviewed on local news and he was charming for 90% of the interview, then he ranted on about Foreman and tthe presenter cut him off "that's all we have time for Larry, over to jane for the weather", which was his nice way of saying: "Shut up you boring old fat *******". :good

I'm not so sure Foreman would catch up to him. Prime Larry could dance all night long and keep moving. And even if he did catch up to Larry, Larry was a very good inside fighter and could spin George around, not letting him set up properly. It's a bad match up for George.
