Larry is just trying to make up for the jock strap comment, and gain some love from the fans. I'm not buying it.

I know Larry very well and he contradicts himself all the time. I am going to call him and ask him and report back in ...

    "Rocky couldn't carry my jockstrap".

Actually if people actually listened to the whole post-fight interview after the first Spinks fight, he gives Rocky a lot of credit before first expressing his frustration over the loss of his "0" rather colourfully.

A movment early in that speece, he said there will never be other white heavyweight champion ever again.

Look today, we have white heavyweights champs coming out of the woodworks lol.

I think Rocky beats Holmes, but the jockstrap comment was out of line imo.

Say what you will on the match up, but one atg should not even make rude comments to other all ready decease atg.

Ali may have goten away with the Jeff comment, than again Ali got away with a lot in his prime.

Very interesting remarks from Holmes you found, Pete. But they are really not surprising at all since they arise from a great fighter with a fighter's knowledge and experience. Holmes demonstrates his points perfectly. And what a contrast to the many immature judgments I read on this thread.

All most of you can do is look for a motive to discredit what Holmes said simply because you don't want to believe that Marciano could defeat Holmes. But Holmes, being Holmes, gives us reasons to back up his assertions. In fact, he breaks down precisely what the problem would be for him.

And the reasons he gives can be correlated, and this is the important point, with what many other excellent fighters have said about Marciano like Ali and Louis for example. Those reasons amount to revealing characteristics of Marciano that many have noticed especially anyone who might have to fight him. Or could envision a fight with him.

Marciano's power and compactness, his movement, endless punching from every direction, etc. An absolute nightmare for most fighters from Louis to Ali. As they themselves have made clear.

So it is the fact that Holmes can point out important characteristics of Marciano's style that is completely consistent with what other ATGs have noticed that confirm his point. He is not speaking in a vacuum, or from wild enthusiasm. Nor is he making empty claims since they can be checked against what others have said across time.

So why don't some of you who are desperately looking for a motive as to why Holmes said what he said, why don't some of you address the actual boxing matters that Holmes brought up? Isn't this a boxing forum? Challenge him here.

Well, I guess I can see why you don't. He, and others who have spoken on this precise topic, know what they are talking about.

exactly you can not have it two ways. Vitali is too big for Ali or Holmes

Holmes was Ko'd 2 times in the amatuers finals vs 5"10 Nick Wells, if size has anything to do with it. Marciano was 5"11 even though they make him shorter. I spoke to Freddie Brown many years ago and he said Rocky was short and stocky but a special fighter and could hit like a giant

I personally think Holmes is correct. Marciano threw so many versions of the right hand and also had a great left. Stamina and will to win are other factors. Marciano would do what Tyson did but may take him longer.

Good find Pete.....at least Larry is humbling himself a bit, but he says he will fight Vlad right now...I am sure it will get a sour reaction form the Big Guy Ball-Huggers and the Marciano is White and Short-Haters....Marciano was a freak with natural power and he was developed into quite a fighting machine but his strength and heart was natural and God-givin his stamina and body-behind the punch tactics were the results of hard work and teaching....Charley Goldman's masterpiece

It's amazing how in one interview Larry is a total *****, and the next he is completely humble. He has said these types of things in the gym, but this is pretty much the first I've heard him do it during a formal interview.

Mabey its the press that Rubs him the wrong way and he finds it hard to speak from the heart, Kenny is more of a down to earth sports guy.
