A must see... An absolute gent and seeing him break the arcade punch machine was fantastic... Makes you think about POOR evander struggling in big brother .
I watched it, cool man is Holmes. Must be annoying when he sees guys with an ounce of his talent get so much publicity!
I was only 13 or so in holmes hey day.. But u forgetthe quality of opposition he faced compared to today... But its great to see him with his faculties and oozing class.
He was a fantastic fighter, great jab, tough as they come and certainly doesn't get the recognition he deserves. Did find it a little over the top when he said Lennox had "no jab"... think we all know that's not true. People do say he comes across as a bit bitter from time to time and I can see where there coming from, but that said.. I think many would be had they achieved what he did yet didn't perhaps get - as mentioned before - the recognition they should or feel they deserve. Two things stand out about Holmes for me. The first, when he cried after beating Ali - probably one of the hardest fights for anyone to watch - and secondly when he launched himself off a car in order to drop kick Berbick
i only watched 5 minutes of it about half way through to see him say about Lennox Lewis having no jab. i then turned it off because it's the same bitter Larry Holmes that makes for very awkward viewing. i've seen enough interviews of his over the years to know that it will be the same deluded bull**** as the last time.
Great fighter, with a great jab, you can only have alot of respect for Larry Holmes as a fighter. He is bitter though, and it comes out too much in every interview I've seen him have.
Bitter Larry Holmes loves himself too much! he was calling out Tyson long before they fought! ...BUT on the prog makes up a bull**** story don king came to him & suprised him with the Tyson fight! whatta bullshitter!
I remember Holmes very well. Definitely a super smooth boxer, very consistent, tough, great jab. But in the interests of balance some things need to be pointed out. He fought a lot of stiffs...this gets overlooked. Also several of the "live" ones ran him very very close...eg An old Norton, an inexperienced Witherspoon, also Carl the truth Williams etc etc
I agree with you, but to be fair to Holmes he said Lewis's jab was more of a paw which I suppose it is compared to his. And i can understand he gets annoyed because he was overlooked despite being a dominant champion. But that flying drop kick off the car on Berbick was brilliant and it caught him as well
