King Larry against these ATGs , What's the final score ? Muhammad Ali 1966 version Joe Louis 1938 version Jack Johnson 1908 version (20 Rounds ) George Foreman 1973 version Rocky Marciano 1952 version Jack Dempsey 1919 version (20rounds ) Joe Frazier 1970 version Lennox Lewis 1997 version Holmes from the Cooney fight here .
Imo, Holmes beats: Johnson Frazier Lewis He loses to: Ali on points Louis by late stoppage or points Foreman ko Marciano ko Dempsey stoppage He gives them all hell though, and has a pretty decent chance to win
Drops UDs to Ali, Lewis and Louis, is stopped by Foreman Then beats Marciano, Frazier (50/50), Dempsey and Johnson
I agree with that on Frazier .A very hard guy to best then , He'd push Holmes to the limit. His best chance is to pump that jab out and try getting Joe's vision splucked up for the big shots later on . But even Ali didn't stop him there , then again FOTC Ali was ring rusty in parts ,so IDK .
Ye then I watched more of Marciano and more of Ken Norton and realised that they don't fight alike and also rescored Holmes Norton and had it 4 rounds to Holmes. And then watched more Holmes and convinced myself that Marciano loses I'm sorry Lach but it's in my blood, I am an Anti Rockista
Holmes takes care of Marciano, Dempsey, Lewis He's 50/50 with Louis, Johnson, Frazier and Foreman And loses to Ali
I’m big on Larry Holmes. I think as a champion he would have been a hard champion to beat for any great fighter.... before he got too old. I watched Larry vs Bones Smith last night. Larry was a very good defending champion. He understood the challenger wanted what he had, he took a look at them, made adjustments. I was very impressed how Larry gaged when to step things up. He got cut in that fight, he was up against a big man, wild, unpredictable, and at that time an unknown big puncher, but Holmes kept his head and knew what to do. Berbick, Weaver, Witherspoon And Smith All wound up being better fighters than first thought. But Larry knew what to do with all them when he beat them. I am not saying he was best champion, but he was probably the best defending champion of all time. He defended consecutively over the longest time. And he might just be one of the hardest champions to beat. I certainly think he could just as easily beat any of the champions he might lose to. He was a tough champion with a lot of tools to solve problems with.
66 Ali may be too fast and mobile but if he settles down and it turns into a jabbing contest Holmes will get the better of him otherwise Ali beats him. Frazier would most likely take a decision off him. Holmes beats the rest.
Ali/Holmes would be a stinker that Ali probably wins 10-5 based on quickness...especially of foot. Frazier beats Holmes possibly by stoppage or decision. It would be a legendary fight but Frazier was an animal at his peak. Larry never beat anyone like that. Jack Johnson outpoints Larry Holmes. Superior defense and imo a bit stronger than Holmes. I believe JJ would make Larry fight his fight. Holmes stops Marciano on cuts around the 10th. Louis stop Holmes behind on points when Larry falls asleep and that cross comes over. Joe Louis was too good a finisher to get away with that. Holmes/Lewis 50/50. Not sure on this one. Probably tactical. Larry was quicker that may serve him well here. Foreman TKO Holmes 4th. Foreman was a terror in the ring. I'm actually a Holmes fan and I respect his ability. I would give him a chance in all these fights. I wouldn't count him out of any of them. If I'm betting this is the way I would go.
I think Holmes absolute peak may have been a touch earlier so i'll go with what i see as peak. Muhammad Ali 1966 version - Ali outslicks him to the tunje of about 10-5. Joe Louis 1938 version - Louis by stoppage mid to later rounds started by a devastating right hand. Jack Johnson 1908 version (20 Rounds ) - Could Larry stop him or go 20? Maybe Holmes paces and wins a decision. George Foreman 1973 version - Foreman by early stoppage, around 2-5. Rocky Marciano 1952 version - Holmes decision i reckon. The bout may have it's moments. Jack Dempsey 1919 version (20rounds ) - I lean to Holmes. Did Dempsey ever do 20? Joe Frazier 1970 version - Frazier decision or late stoppage. Lennox Lewis 1997 version - Lewis by decision courtesy of a KD.
