The 28 year old Holmes starting off with Buster Mathis in '68 right through to the third Ali fight in '75.

    Larry beats them all.

The only threat to him is Ali and Frazier himself.

Ali past prime won't compete with prime Holmes so FOTC Ali likely loses. But Rumble Ali will be facing a more faded Holmes and as too past prime men, I think Ali takes it.

So Holmes reigns until 74/75. Retires beating everyone he fought.

I see Ali losing to Holmes in fight number one but beating him in the second and third bouts.

Well if he started at 28 in 1968 then he would be 33 in 1973. Foreman stops him. The funny thing is that frazier did not retire in 74-75 and you cut the fantasy carrer of holmes when you pick .so you dont want to hear that he would lose a fight. In 1976 foreman makes holmes his *****.( in both línes of time, reallity and this fantasy

Yeah, Holmes would start to fade around 1973, because in real life he was starting to decline around 1983. He would have had some hard fights against Bonavena and Quarry and pulled off a close epic win over Ali probably.
A young prime Foreman might well beat a 33-year-old Holmes.
Then, he'd have very similar results to Frazier's.
Bugner would give him a close fight.
The real question is whether he'd beat Ali in 1974 and/or 1975. Holmes would be the older man by 2 years, but Ali started younger and had the lay-off. Both fights I'd be hesistant to make a prediction.

Nothing to do with not wanting Holmes to lose a fight ! It was a case of putting Holmes on Frazier's career path.

Okay,I'll add the second Foreman fight to the equation.

Prime Holmes outboxes prime Foreman; Foreman/33-yo Holmes is tough to call.

Dude calm down. It's probably the fact that, his career was basically over after 1975. No need to be rude.

    Holmes-Foreman is 50-50
I'd favor Fotc Ali over prime Holmes

I'd agree with you about FOTC Ali if he'd had another two or three fights under his belt. A very close one either way.

In the beginning, Ali would have points lead. Holmes wouldn't cope well with Ali's speed and Ali, despite his toe-to-toe stance with Frazier, would move a bit more against Holmes. He'd have to. By round four, Holmes realizes he must make a fight of it. For the next four rounds, the fight is closer as Holmes gets more physical. Here, Holmes pulls slightly ahead on points.

Ali gets his second wind by the 11 round but Holmes keeps up the pace. The fight is very close but Ali guts it out in the last two rounds.

    Ali W 15 split.
