The point is there was a window for Holmes to unify with Tate, Weaver, Dokes, Coetzee, Thomas and they would have been interesting fights.

I already said it was the worst era for consistency and conditioning, Holmes was the most consistently in condition but Mike Tyson under Cus cleaned out Berbick ko2 , Tubbs ko 2, Williams ko 1, Thomas ko 6, Michael Spinks ko 1 and Larry Holmes ko 4 and in retrospect Tyson gave a good measurement of the value of the 80's group of underachievers.

I admit I would have much rather have seen Holmes defend against better-quality challengers during that time. Especially as he was at his peak. Frank, Jones, and Zanon were all undeserving. I still believe Holmes would have defeated any of the other heavyweights from that period. But, I suppose that's really beside the point.
