Holmes beats Holyfield by around four points over twelve or fifteen. His jab would be his greatest weapon as always. That and his uppercut
If these two met in their primes it would be a good competitive fight that I'm pretty much certain Holmes would win. I think Holmes wins a hard fought but clear cut decision like he deserved against Norton or perhaps possibly scores a late round stoppage. I see good flow in the bout with some rounds being contested in a boxing manner and some rounds being fought more action packed. Holyfield would have his moments but overall Holmes would be to crafty and carry the day.
Holmes. Every time I watch his fight I can't help but think that stylistically a younger Holmes would have been to much for Holyfield. I don't think he stops Holyfield but I do think he outboxes him over 12 or 15.
Holmes again and like the other posters I don't see Larry getting a stoppage but that jab of his at its best was a beauty. Larry by decision.
Very hard for Holyfield this. You have to go for Holyfield I think. It would take a jab-surprise to make Evander the winner by my reckoning.
I'm taking Holmes. Larry at his best was better than Bowe. It would be a good and competative fight however since Holyfeilfd is better than any of Larry's chalengers. Could be a late stoppage or points for Larry.
A 42 year old Holmes with eye problems, kept a fight with a near prime Holyfield competitive. So I figure a 30 year old Holmes has the tools and cunning to edge the 12/15 round decision.
Holmes by points. He's the better boxer, but I don't think he could knock Holyfield out. He'd outjab him though.
Holmes in a close fight. I can't see Evander pressing him enough or hitting him with sufficient power to make Larry fold, and Holmes was the more skilled boxer. Great fight though.. P.S. My decision has nothing to do with their actual 1992 meeting. That fight looked like they had a gentleman's agreement not to hurt each other too bad and a couple of times even appeared to be clowning a bit.
The other thing Larry didn't have then was legs. He sure did in 1979 though. And Evander would be in there with a moving target, not a stationary guy. And it takes a top notch finisher to get holmes out of there and I sure don't think of Holyfield as a finisher of the highest order. evander matches up better against guys trying to ko him that he can counter.
