The fight would have to be stopped from Larry abusing him in the mid to later rds. This is a horrible matchup for big georrge

:dealYes. Holmes might of been more skilled than Foreman, but it would take more than a jab to beat a prime Foreman. Ali had to tire Foreman in order to stop him, no one is knocking out Foreman other than Ali. Nobody beats Foreman in a toe to toe war. Holmes tried to imitate a prime Ali with his movement, had a stronger jab than Ali's, and a great right hand, but not even close to Foreman's. It would be competitive that's for sure, but Larry never fought a puncher other than Tyson that had the ferociousness that Foreman had. Foreman wasn't as big as the Klitshcko's, but there is the case he was equally as strong and he knew how to use his strength and no one could stop him. He was like a freight train.

Either version of Foreman beats Holmes every time.

Foreman had trouble in his prime with slick boxers like ali/peralta/young.................i consider foremans prime 73 and 74.........i consider holmes prime 1982 when he fought cooney...........i think larry holmes would knock out george foreman late in the fight ....

Foreman would fall apart after a few rounds, Holmes by ko after 7 or 8 rounds. Foreman is known for getting very tired in Ali fight, but he did same in two Peralta fights also. He had better staying power when older than when in prime, due to mind set.

Larry's just a bad matchup for George. I like The Easton Assassin via UD.

jumping to the end (cause i'm drunk)

playing this out in my head a few years ago and all i could come up with in holmes by KO 7-10th round. jabs his face off, suffers a flash knockdown but wears foreman down with accuracy round after round. like the cooney fight but, sadly, foreman has worse stamina and defense in his "prime" and gets knocked out

Larry via UD....Larry would move and Jab. Wouldn't let Forman get set. A poster said about how Forman crushed Joe, Ken, and the like..but they came at George. Larry wouldn't untill the later rounds. He would move jab...right cross and hold...would be close untill around the 8th round then Larry takes controll. Wouldv'e been a Mega fight in todays Boxing. People forget that Larry was a hard ass SOB just like George..and don't think that George would scare Larry at all.

The OP is somewhat confused about the careers of these two and doesn't specify which of each man's careers he's referring to.
Therefore, I will qualify my response.

In their first careers (George:1969-1977, Larry 1973-1986) George takes it. Larry doesn't last the distance.

In their comeback careers (George: 1987-1997 , Larry 1991-2002) Larry takes it by a comfortable UD

Holmes is a better all-around boxer and would beat Foreman to the punch all night long. Holmes by UD!
