I heard Larry Holmes wanted a shot at George Foreman a couple years back. It's funny how Larry Holmes reign and George Foreman's disappearance happened around the same time. If Holmes was confident in himself, as he was during his time as champ, I'm not sure if Foreman would be able to intimidate him as he did other fighters. It's two different times though, Foreman was plowing through guys when Holmes just turned pro.
Holmes and Foreman were gonna fight years ago (mid 1990's), but Holmes wanted no part of Don King, and had another promoter named Roger "something" try to make the fight, but couldnt come up with the money, so the fight was cancelled. IDK who would've won the fight, though.
hard too say cause george foreman had trouble with boxers(jimmy young..ali...and peralta).......but george foreman was so much better than gerry cooney and the holmes cooney fight was kinda close until cooney got beat......holmes would never rope a dope foreman like ali....and foreman would cut off the ring much better than gerry cooney and ken norton did against holmes......i think george foreman would tko larry holmes in 7 rds.........but u never know....i could be wrong(im the same guy to say ray mercer was gonna knock out larry holmes in 5 rds and holmes gave mercer a boxing clinic)/////////..............PEACE
Muhammad Ali and Jimmy Young beat Foreman. Larry Holmes had a similar style, and I think he would have stopped him. Remember, Foreman blatantly ducked Holmes in the 80's, and he also ducked another technical fighter in Tony Tucker, relinquishing his HW title to avoid him.
The foreman that destroy frazier, would ko holmes, remember folks ali was faster on his feet than larry & the reason he outclassed foreman was when he decided to lay on the ropes and let george punch himself out tire himself out and eventually getting ko.......................cooney gave holmes a tough fight, imagine what big george would have done to the easton assasin.
I remember when Holmes was trying to make that fight happen in the 90's, it's a damn shame it didn't. That could have been one of the great classic fights of the 90's. Foreman just won the belt Holmes was still fighting and in great shape, the people wanted it and it fell thru. A damn shame.
