    Hello,

Larry Holmes of the first Shavers fight vs Jersey Joe of the first Louis fight. 15 rounds who wins?

    Thank You.

Walcott will hurt him a few time with his right hand over the low hanging left of Larry Holmes. At the end of the day Larry will carry the fight and win the night. He will stab with his jab, and out box the old fox.

Walcott, imo, would beat Holmes and Ali. He was a fitter, smarter, trickier version of Jimmy Young - with knockout power!

If a powder-punching, lazy Young could give Ali (and Foreman) a thorough boxing lesson, then how much better would Walcott do against Ali? Yes, Jersey Joe would beat Holmes and Ali.

What has Abe Simon got to do with this? Ah, I understand - because Simon kayoed JJW.

Yours is a rather simplistic view imo, and I seem to remember you holding the Abe Simon loss against Walcott previously when assessing JJW's chances in fantasy matches.

If you had done your homework, you would know that, according to many sources, JJW had not eaten for 2 days before boxing Abe. I personally feel there is very likely a lot of truth in these stories, enough to suggest that holding Walcott's loss to Simon against him is harsh.

I personally feel that the Walcott who faced Louis in December 1947 likely gives Holmes a very, very difficult night's work. A tough fight to call imo, I think Holmes possibly wins a close decision.

I don't even see this as being particularly close. Holmes by KO after the 8th.

I remember after Holmes said the infamous words about Marciano. About how he was a 38 year old fighting 20 years olds and Rocky did the opposite. Boxing magazine started talking about how likely it was that Holmes would actually lose to the Walcott and Charles that fought Marciano. I think its a close fight with Walcott managing a decision win over Larry.

Holmes stock has risen over the years. He used to lack respect. Part of that was Holmes testy personality, but even the older historians are starting to view Holmes as the best heavyweight since Ali

Holmes would beat Maxim, Layne and an old Louis in the same night. That post-war era really represented the nadir of the division's modern history.
