Larry was multiple levels better than Frazier. People rate Frazier high because of one close win against a comebacking Ali who had been off three years and wasn’t super sharp. Ali was also overrated because of his political significance and his personal charisma. He’s like a cult figure. If one really watches Holmes fight anywhere near his prime, he is far better than one dimensional Frazier who was basically a bigger version of Dwight Qawi. Power? Frazier had a hard left hook but Holmes had just as much power in his right and was more accurate with it. Saying Frazier had a better chin than Holmes who was knocked down only twice in his prime is silly when Frazier was knocked down 11 times. Saying Frazier had better Stamina is equally silly. Holmes always won the late rounds and went 15 multiple times and always finished fresher than his opponents. Frazier looked good against Ali because Post-prison Ali used to lay on the ropes to let his opponents punch themselves out. He rarely danced or moved as he did pre-prison. Ali post-prison hit harder with the right and had matured into his body but was nowhere near as fast. Holmes did not lay on the ropes and just let fighters hit him. He would move and jab and could fight effectively inside as well. Frazier was vulnerable to the uppercut and Holmes had a good one. Holmes was also not vulnerable to a left hook. I don’t ever remember him getting hit with a good one. Holmes wins this matchup rather easily with a wide decision or more likely a late stoppage.
