I am pretty sure this has been done before, but I am curious for a new crowd to try it out. The reason I am asking is Holmes is being picked by a majority (about 1 and a half to 1) to beat Tyson, and Tyson is a 2-1 favorite by the poll against Louis. So who wins and how if Holmes fought Louis???

As a second question what does Holmes do to warrant or justify a pick over Tyson, and what do some feel Louis is Lacking to beat Tyson??? I would personally favor both slightly against Tyson but would excpect both to be tough fights!

    oh boy

Now THIS is a tough one to call.

I think it would definitely go the distance.

im going to go with holmes..by an SD.
but this would be tough, I think they counter eachothers style pretty well, Louis woul stalk Larry as Larry moves around the ring with his jab. Larry would have trouble with Louis and vise versa. I just think holmes will be able o pull it off if he sticks to his gameplan and doesn't stick around with louis for too long. louis's accuracy and power would eventually defeat the Easton assassin.
I'm not really sure about this one.

No one jabs like Holmes and in his prime he had great stamina but a prime Louis could break down anyone. Very hard to call to be honest, I went with a Louis decision.

Holmes is too long to allow Joe to control distance and this would prevent Louis from EVER being competitive with Holmes. Holmes all the way

You certainly have a right to your opinion but do you really see Joe Louis' right hand being a factor given Holmes' length and fluidity? The Bomber would look like a Hippo stuck in mud compared to Larry...

I will go with Louis because I don't think that Holmes would be able to keep away from him for the entire fight.

Louis would probably catch up with him sooner or later and close the deal where others failed.

With respect to the great joe louis, i feel holmes has a little too much for him. Both have proved they can fight in the championship rounds (always a great pointer of a guys ability IMO ). A very tight and cautious fight with Holmes scoring a late late stoppage after maybe both taking a count at some stage

I think Larry would jab his way to a close decision. Louis always had a problem with guys who could box and keep away from him, and the only reason Billy Conn didn't beat him in the first fight was because he went for the KO after outboxing him the entire fight. Holmes wouldn't be foolish enough to go for the KO for a long enough time to let Louis catch him hard.

And it's not like I don't think Louis would be competitive simply because he's smaller because I see Louis beating Bowe and Lewis handily. With that said, I just think Joe would have serious problems dealing with big ATGs who fought "BIG". This includes Holmes, Wlad and Ali. These guys would give Louis fits.

This would be very interesting, two of the best Heavies of all time, and two of my personal favourites .. I only seeing this going one way and thats a victory for Holmes, stylistically Holmes and Ali would be a knightmare for Louis .. Holmes and Ali were great ring craftsmen, lightning speed and great movement .. Although, maybe Louis would have a chance because of Holmes's risk taking, attacking attitude. Holmes wasnt scared and he didnt bore people to death behind his jab like Lewis did or like the Klits do .. If Holmes adopted a cautious controlled attitude he could out-box Louis at range, if he went to attack then he could get caught .... Im going for Holmes based only on styles, i think Louis is a sensational fighter and the hardest punching heavyweight of all time .... Holmes is the most under-rated (by some) Heavyweight great ever, when in fact, at his best he could have beaten all the other greats and was probably the greatest pure boxer of any Heavyweight in history .... Holmes UD or Late KO
