He was a heavyweight boxer who was active in the 30s and 40s.

Considered quite good in his day.

Larry gives Joe a lot of problems, but Joe catches up with him between rounds 9-12. Larry doesn't get the credit he deserves because he was the best of a rotten bunch. If he had half of Klitschko's supporters behind him, they'd have him up there as the greatest of all time.

Joe Lewis was a great martial artist back in the 60's actually.

Holmes went 21-5 in HW World title fights and 69-6 (44) overall. He was only stopped once. He weighed between 209-223 1/2 Lbs. for fights during his reign as champ. 6'3" with an 81" reach.

Louis went 26-1 in HW World Title Fights and 66-3 (52) overall. He was only stopped twice. He weighed between 197-213 1/2 Lbs. during his reign. He weighed 218 Lbs. for his fight vs. HW World Champ Ezzard Charles... Louis was still considered Champion by many people. 6'2" with a 76" reach.

Holmes beat two Linear HW Champs... Muhammad Ali and Leon Spinks but he also beat six HW Title Holders... Norton, Weaver x2, Berbick, Witherspoon, Smith x2, and Mercer.

Louis beat six Linear HW Champs... Max Schmeling 1 out of 2, Jack Sharkey, Primo Carnera, Max Baer, Jimmy Braddock, and Jersey Joe Walcott x2.

I rank both in the top 5 of the best HWs of all time.

Both were great boxers and could do all thing well.

Holmes was more durable, had a better jab, and could use his footwork in a defensive manner better than Louis.

Louis had more power, cut the ring off better, and was a better finisher than Holmes.

Both men had good hand speed, I'd give Louis the edge here. Holmes was quicker on his feet.

So, who do I think would win?

I'm going with Holmes in a very close and tough fight.
