I think he was competitive, and when caught with a hard punch he was quick to retaliate, even things up, defend himself, impose himself, which is what all the great champions do.

I watched the Holmes-C00ney fight today.

Loved the way Holmes would always answer back after ****ey would land a big shot.. One of Holmes' finest performances. I know ****ey was inexperienced but he seemed poised and didn't freak out when Holmes landed on him, he landed a lot of good body shots and left hooks on Holmes even after being rocked himself.

I don't think Lewis could ever move as fluidly as Holmes did in that fight, the way he would jab & move was reminiscent of Ali in that fight. The first knockdown was brilliantly set up with a jab/feint to the body and a crushing right hand to the head.. Holmes is a smarter HW than given credit for.. Also threw right hooks around ****ey's guard when ****ey had a high guard.

What you won't find is a quote from Steward saying " I've never seen such athleticism and mobility for such a big guy " about Holmes, because he wasn't.

Or.

" Lennox was very easy to work with. You only had to tell him something once, and he picked it up quickly "

I just don't think Lennox had a better jab than Holmes, at all. I'm aware that he would paw & snap out the jab when necessary - but I definitely think Holmes would win this fight with the jab, as they were both outfighters and both operated off their jabs.

of course it's worth mentioning that Lennox struggled against opponents with a very good jab; notably Mercer, Bruno and Vitali.

3 pretty poor examples as it goes. You are acting as though you believe Lewis was trying to establish his jab against both Bruno and Mercer, and failing. Both those fights were exactly that. Fights, not boxing matches. As for Vitali, are you serious? A near 38 year old totally under prepared Lewis with half an eye on retirement, huffing and puffing like an old man after 3 rounds. Yeah right, as if anyone takes that at face value.

What was Ali doing at 38? Getting battered to fuk by Holmes.

What was Holmes doing at 38? Getting battered to fuk by Tyson.

What was Tyson doing at 38? Getting battered to fuk by Danny Williams.

And you want to make a big issue about Lewis not being able to out jab a prime Klitchko.

If you can't dream up better than that I suggest you turn it in.

Lennox takes this nine times out of ten.

If they fought in South Africa and Lennox hasn't trained properly, maybe clowning around with Holywood types, I could see Larry maybe getting him.

But he would be in for a serious ass-whupping in the rematch.
