larry holmes was absolutely better fighter.. much better chin, faster legs and hands ,more heart, better jab, better skill, better power to recover, better stamina. lewis was only harder puncher. holmes hands down. by ud or late tko
Holmes. I think Lennox would have his moments but I think Larry is better as pretty much everything and hes one TOUGH s.o.b. I think Holmes ends up outboxing him in a 15 rd dec 10-5 or 9-6
Holmes 7-5 decision IMO Lewis isn't stopping him and he's not outboxing him so I think Holmes would take a decision in a close fight
Either man could win this. You're talking about 2 of the best heavyweights in the last, what, about 40 years? Their strengths and weaknesses match up well funnily (Lewis has more power, but the worse chin. Holmes has the better jab, but the smaller reach.) I don't know. You could make a pretty convincing case for either man.
Lennox. The upper tier of heavyweight ATG's would never, ever, ever have lost to Spinks a second time. Losing to Spinks twice will forever taint the Holmes' argument.
:happyAll these i agree with. Has good as Holmes was in all departments(and he was outstanding), i feel Lewis' boxing ability is very underrated on here. He had a great knack of changing a fight, not only with power but also with subtleties. All this lark about his chin is a nonsense too! You rarely seen him hurt, and the punches that beat him were absolute peaches. While this is a fascinating match-up with 2 of the most intelligent HW champs ever, and Holmes would certainly have his moments. I feel Lewis would surprise a lot of people with his ability against Holmes and win a UD or MD. But if Lennox was in an agressive mood and felt threatened by Larry, then i don't see Larry going the distance.IMHO
larry right hand and jab vs lewis right hand and jab are both pretty much even. what is not even is the chins this is what lets lennox down larry holmes by ko
Depends on what Lewis shows up on the night. Is it the "falling asleep" Lewis displaying apathy? Then he'd give away the too many rounds with a low workrate while Steward yells at him to wake up. That Lewis would definitely lose a UD12/UD15. If however the Lewis from the Ruddock fight shows up then it would be an early night for Lennox. Throwing crisp 1-2s with such vigor that they'd stop Holmes in the first half of the fight. If they fought 10 times in their primes I'd give Holmes 5 wins and Lennox 5.
